Tax free weekend is an annual sales taxhttp://kona.kontera.com/javascript/l...rey_loader.gif
holiday offered in many states throughout the US.

It's usually hosted on a weekend right before school starts. NC's tax-free days are geared toward school items such as clothes, supplies, computers, shoes...etc. Every state that participates sets their own rules. You don't pay any sales tax on items that qualify.

Many people who are going to be buying big ticket items like computers will wait for this weekend so that they save some money by not paying a large amt. of sales tax.

It sure helps out with school supplies and uniforms! We do have it in TN, and many parents wait to buy the uniforms our schools require. We help out d#1 and the grandkids (4). Makes a big difference since out tax here 9.25% !

RI has never held them. MA has in the past, but not now. I have never bothered going to them. My big ticket purchases have never fallen at the right time for the MA ones in the past. CT has it this week but only on clothing & shoes which is already tax free in RI. At least for now...
