Chef Wolfgang Puck's Lower-Carb Pizza Dough

as posted by Boggsz in the February 2004 What's for Dinner? thread

"I seen this recipe on a Good morning America this morning for all the low carbers out there. Wolfgang said there is like 5.6 carbs in the dough im going to try it and make a veggie pizza with the dough"

Chef Wolfgang Puck's Lower-Carb Pizza Dough recipe.

Famous for his signature pizzas, Wolfgang Puck came
up with a reduced-carb version of his pizza dough.

• 1/4 ounce yeast
• 1 1/2 tablespoons honey
• 1 cup warm water
• 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
• 1 teaspoon salt
• 4 teaspoons olive oil

1. In a small bowl, dissolve the yeast and honey in
1/4 cup of the warm water.
2. In a mixer fitted with a dough hook, combine the
flour and the salt. Add the oil, yeast mixture, and
the remaining 3/4 cup of water and mix on low speed.
3. Form dough into 2 1/2 ounce balls. With a floured
rolling pin, roll out the dough to form 8-inch rounds.

*After making the dough, you can add a variety of
toppings, such as chicken, eggplant, shrimp, broccoli
rabe, raw veggies, plus tomato sauce and some cheese.

Yield: Makes 4 8-inch pizzas

Abear, with the all purpose flour, is it really low carb?

Or is he just saying it many carbs are in all-purpose flour???

There is another way to make low-carb just take a pan and spray it lightly and then press your hamburger into a pan. Spread your tomato sauce on top, cheese, toppings, etc. Bake, let cool slightly, slice and eat. I never thought i'd do this after reading about it on a low-carb thread but it's really good.
