LJsMom, What is the idea behind Pilates? Ive seen them mentioned a lot lately but wasnt sure what they were all about. Is it a type of exercise or what?
Have you seen good results from doing them yet?

I decided to take a break from Curves this morning to give my legs a break. We are going shopping a little later to pick up a few decorations for my DD's BD party. Both of the kids need new shoes too so Ill take a look at them while Im out too.

Dinner tonight is chili mac for them and a little chili ( no beans) and a salad for me.

Hoping to walk again tonight if my legs are up to it.

Im not really seeing a difference in the scales again but Im seeing my body change shape.

Did anyone else have bad storms last night? WOW! We had one continuous bad storm all night. Lots of thunder and lightening!! We had no tv or internet when I got up today for about the first 25 minutes. My DS was bummed because we couldnt watch the TODAY show like we usually do every morning. He is so used to watching the news with me that he calls the new anchors by their first names like he knows them personally, LOL! We can do without more weather like that!

Ajrsmom, Congratulations on the award your son got! You parents deserve some of the credit. If kids read, it's because their parents taught them it's important.

I have a Denise Austin tape that uses weights. I don't use it much because it's such a long session - about 45 minutes. I do use Jorge Cruise's book .8 Minutes in the Morning. It targets a different body part each day. You do 2 different exercises using weights, and it takes 8 minutes. It doesn't seem like much, but it does make a difference. I don't know much about Pilates, either, but would like to find out.

LJsmom, gardening should count! My criteria is: if it makes you sore, it counts.

My size 22 jeans are getting quite loose. I remember a couple months ago, I couldn't get them zipped - so that's progress. I tried on a pair of 20's this morning, but still too tight. Guess I'm a perfect size 21

We've had rain all day, and it's expected to stick around all weekend. I don't suppose I'll get anything planted.

Boy can I relate to that! Sometimes Im a size 23 then again sometimes a 24 or 25 even. My 24s are getting big though.
And then that's a WalMart size 24 now if we are talking lane Bryant, then I guess I would be around a 20 maybe since their things run so much bigger? What a dilema, LOL!

I agree, gardening really counts! You use quite a bit of muscles doing that for a long time.

I am being totally lazy today and thats not a good thing. I have so much housework to do before DD's party but Im just not in the mood to do it right now. Think Ill go watch Judge Judy for a while and that will give me a chance to exercise a bit. Going to WalMart wasnt a pleasant trip so I need a break right now. DD screamed practically the whole time there. She wanted to go to sleep and was very cranky. Not good when you have a 6 1/2 yr old on the other side saying " Can I go here, there and everywhere!!!" Especially when I wanted him to try some shoes on............

Ill be back later on........after my break

LJsMom - I've read that gardening actually burns quite a few calories. I know I must of the other night, I was really working hard digging out weeds.

My mom's been here for the last few days. We've been eating out a lot, but I've stuck to low carbing. I'm now down 81 pounds, was wearing size 26/28 tops and size 26 jeans, now I'm almost into a pair of skinny 22's that I had (can 22's be skinny? LOL) Oh happy day! I'm so glad I found this diet!

Carol

You're doing great!!! Good job is behaving when eating out! I know what you mean about "skinny 22's". It's hard to keep perspective sometimes.

When I walk down the street, feeling so skinny because I lost a few pounds, sometimes it occurs to me that strangers looking at me only see someone who is overweight. A little dose of reality.

But it reminds me to be careful how I look at other people. The stranger I pass might look overweight to me, but who knows, maybe she's already lost 81 pounds!

Hi Ladies

Busy day here for me preparing for the BD party. I think its turning into a water party of sorts. If the weather is hot and humid tomorrow, we are going to get out the sprinkler for the kids to play in. We also bought water guns for them and bubbles too.

I didnt make it to Curves this morning either. I was just too busy running around getting stuff for the party. Im feeling quite guilty about that now. Is doing housework considered exercising?

I have to get back to work but wanted to say "HI"!

Now I know why people opt for CHUCK E CHEESE and places like that, LOL!!

pilates

Its all about strengthening your "inner core" muscles. According to the back of my tape: help you strengthen and lengthen your muscles, improve your posture, and tone and tighten your midsection.
From what I can remember of the history, Jos. Pilates developed these techniques while at a concentration camp. With simple stretches/techniques, he and the others that were with him, survived and were stronger despite all the Nazi b.s. that was happening around them.

Never done yoga, but I think its kind of like that a little.
I have a little (ahem, maybe more than a little) jelly around the middle, and after just a couple times, I could feel my muscles tighter.
Its been a few months since I've used it, swimsuit time is around the corner-I'd better get cracking.

Quick, easy pizza

I made this tonight and it turned out good. A lot like a thin-crust pizza:

Preheat oven to 400
Take a low-carb tortilla and spray one side with cooking spray.
Lay sprayed-side-down on a baking sheet.
Add toppings
Bake a few minutes (until cheese melts)

By the time the cheese melts, the tortilla has crisped-up.

I walked 2 miles yesterday and 2 more today. And I lost a pound in the past week. So I'm feeling pretty good.

VickiLynn, Your pizza recipe sounds really good!

Well, I had a total reality check again today after seeing myself in pictures with my daughter. I had been feeling a lot better about myself, especially since the clothes I have on today are almost too big for me. Anyway, After seeing those pictures, I have a very long way to go! Reality really bites sometimes!

I will keep working on it .....Im not going backwards, I just want to look "normal" in pictures!!!

I think that Im going to buy the "Pilates for Dummies" and another video called " Working out with weights for Dummies"
They are $20.00 for both on Amazon. I read a lot of reviews for these and they said that they are good for beginners---that's me!

My mother gave me money to buy a new outfit for my BD so Im happy about that!

VickiLynn, Keep up the good work walking!!!
