Hurricane Sandy: What Did We Learn and How Can We Better Prepared Next Time: 2012

I'm sure that 99% of us here watched with interest and then sadness as Hurricane Sandy swept across the east coast of our country destroying everything in its path.

I have several online friends who were affected by this storm and I've been trying to collect information from their experiences to share here.

The first thing I want to cover are 2 videos from YouTube from one of my friends at Simple Solar Homesteading.

They are free and no expectations are asked, he just wants to help educate people about different power and heating sources that he has personally used.

You will find his links on the next post and additional information as I find it and those who have been through this storm please share what you learned and how you would do things differently in the future.

Being Prepared helps save lifes.

We were not affected by Hurricane Sandy, but we were affected by the previous year's hurricane...Lee? I forget what its name was. But, we were flooded out, our electricity was turned off for 4 days, and boy was I ever glad we did not have our freezer stocked! I would love to learn how to can everything that way very little would be wasted during a power outage!

When I was young, I always said I wanted to be someone...I guess I should have been more specific!
