Hi Melinda and welcome to FC! You might want to post on the Introduce Yourself thread since it is an area with more traffic. There are so many at Family Corner that homeschool their children that would know exactly where you can go. I know there are some educational things here, but since my children are grown, I am not sure where. Good luck!

The Copper Country(Michigan) is the best place to raise kids..The school system is great, there are 2 colleges in town, and there is alot of wide open spaces to enjoy fishing, hunting, swimming, canoeing, kayating, skiing, snowmobiling, etc. Also, the people here are the best people, so kind, hard working and honest. How do I know so much? This is where I live!

Silicon Valley, CA. Great people, great weather, wonderful schools, close to the big city (San Fran) but not too close. Strong tech economy, clean, and crime-free (apparently). Just a really great quality of life. OK, it's expensive, sure, but that's because everyone wants to be here.

I would like to live in Montana....wide open spaces for my grandchildren to run and play, clean air, and far enough away from town to stay away from the crime areas. This is my dream!
Hugs, Miss R

Right now I am living in a small community of Sturgis, MI we can leave the doors unlock at night, no one bothers us, we have over 3 acres and live in the country nearest neighbor is 1/4 mile away.
We will be retiring to Cullman AL where it is a dry county no alcohol what so ever and not built up like it is around here in MI.

Well I really don't know. I live in a little town in Tennessee and we are getting eat up with drugs and crime. I love it here though, I am not moving. My brother was murdered 7 years ago so I know its bad. I guess the best place to live would be Alaske you never hear anything about there. Maybe its too cold. Too cold for me anyway.

There just is no place that is "safe" anymore in terms of crime or drugs. Even some people from the "nicest" families turn to crime or drugs. So, if I were "doing it over" (I'm a grandma), I'd probably do just what I did: live in a suburb of Atlanta. It has lots of cultural opportunities, close enough to the mountains and the seashore for inexpensive vacations. I'd either put them in a private Christian school or homeschool, though.

The town where I grew up in Nebraska (pop. 2,400) was pretty safe. I don't remember much of any crime happening at all. Mostly, it is mainly a farming community.
