I just noticed this. I currently live in NM, but I am originally from Texas and go there every chance I get. I was there on Thursday. My family came from Ireland to Virginia, then into Tennessee, where my great-great-grandfather fought in the Civil War. Afterwards, he settled in Texas.

I think the best cooking is Southern food!

HI to all fellow southerns. I live in northern Arkansas. I agree southern food is great. I was born and raised in Arkansas. My ancestors came from Ireland on one side and England on the other side of the family. I am a mother of 2 children. One girl almost 11 and a boy almost 9. It is great to met other southerners.

Your right, nothing like homemade cornbread, or even from a mix, hush puppies, catfish, trout, and don't forget the beans with the cornbread, also milk, or if you like it butter milk. Fried green tomatoes, homemade biscuits, homemade pies, I could go on and on. I just love the South. Born and raised in Arkansas, the northern part of the state, but still have all the southern cuisine.

Haley's grandmom

I was born in southern Maine, but, moved to West Tennessee where I love it. I make be a yankee by being born in maine. but, I'm a true southerner in spirit. We have a lot of fried catfish as were only 2 1/2 mi from the Tennessee river. There's notheing like true southern hospitality!!!
