Homemade Butter & Muffins
Now that the Fall has arrived, the kids won't be outside as often and will be looking for things to do. A fun and easy thing that we do during cold or rainy days is making homemade butter. First we whip up a box of easy bake corn bread muffins. While the muffins are baking, we start making our butter. Simply use a baby food jar, or any small jar. Fill the jar half way with heavy cream, and a small pinch of salt to taste. Close the jar and let the kids shake, shake, shake the jar. If their hands get tired from shaking you may have to help them. When the cream begins to thicken, usually after ten minutes refrigerate for about fifteen minutes. If there is any liquid on top just pour it off. The kids just love putting homemade butter on their corn bread muffins:sillll:

I'm going to move this to the Kids' Recipe forum for more recognition.

This is a great family project. My kids will love to do this so we will definitely be trying it!

We are having cornbread tonight but I don't have any heavy cream right now...darn it!! :sling:

Thanks for sharing!
