I feel the same way you do but get this.... My daughter just attended a BD party at Chuck E Cheese for one of her classmates. My dd spent a lot of time looking around the store for the perfect gift for this little girl. She finally decided on a necklace and bracelet making set. We bought paper and ribbon...did the whole gift wrap thing.
At the party, the Mom didn't even call the kids over to watch the girl open her gifts! She opened them while everyone was playing. When we walked over to see if she was going to open her gift, we were stunned to see a table full of presents. My daughter asked the girl if she liked her gift and the little girl said I don't know which one was from you!

Her mother jumped in to say that she was sure that her daughter loved everything. When this girl handed out thank-you cards, my daughter asked her again if she liked the gift and she replied "I don't remember what you gave me".
That, to me, was so rude and it hurt my daughter's feelings. That makes me want to give gift cards.
