Homemade body scrubs?

Has anyone made any homemade body scrubs? I'm thinking of making some for some gifts this year and was wondering if you had any good recipes. I need to find jars to put them in, maybe Michael's or AC Moore?

Homemade Facial Scrubs

Gina

Is this what you were looking for?

1 cup California Sea Salt Topping

1/2 cup Sweet Almond Oil

1/2 cup liquid soap ( Dial, Dove, etc.)

1/2 tsp. Essential or fragrance oils

Using a pourable container, mix together Sweet Almond Oil and Liquid Soap. Add Sea Salt and Essential or Fragrance Oil. Mix well. Pour into squeeze bottle or wide mouth jars. Makes approximately 12 ounces.

For the sea salt, if you can't find it you can use Kosher Sea Salt found in most grocery stores.

Have fun with it whichever recipe you use, but do be sure if you use fragrance/essential oils to make sure they are skin safe if it doesn't say so on the label don't buy it.

If you look through the threads you'll find my recipes for bath oil ,bath salts, body powder and I think I put in here somewhere a lip balm recipe too.

Think gift baskets, try for a theme of scented items. Like Strawberry scrubs, bath salts, lotion, soap and candle... maybe include a CD of musical instruments. For those true "Calgon Take Me Away" moments. Good luck.

Here is another one; it is a facial scrub!

Lemon Sugar Scrub

1 tbsp brown sugar
1 tsp almond oil
A few drops of lemon juice

Combine all the ingredients. Gently massage into face using a circular motion for 1 minute. Rinse with warm water.

Recipe for an all natural scrub from Great Jones Spa in New York City.

The one Cat Lover posted is much better than the one I originally posted on here back in 2005 before I started making a better homemade version.

The liquid soap is really not necassary and in fact counter acts the benefit of a scrub.

You can also use plain old sugar instead of sea salt especially beneficial if you have a open cut or sore on your face, sea salt can sting.

I use olive oil and salt for a hand scrub and have heard that Greek ladies use olive oil on their face but I wouldn't put salt on my face.

Brown sugar sound better
