Anna, I was very leary at using food coloring too..afraid it would stain the skin? but I guess since it was only a few drops..I never seen any bad effects..personally I like the natural looking soap..but alot of people like colored.

Hugs, Janet

Janet

I don't think it would hurt or stain the skin but I was just surprised it would adhere to the soap as food coloring is a water based product versus soap coloring which is a oil based product.

My sister has sister has started making dog "bones" and I suggested she put them in a pretty bag and give as Christmas gifts since we all have dogs.

I'm planning on making up 13 Bean Soup mix and putting it in a canning jar with instructions on how to make.

Good idea, Roberta. I'm going to do food in a jar also, but I'm starting with cookie recipes.

Don't think I have the 13 bean soup one.

Well last time I made them they ended up being 11 bean since I couldn't find 13 different dried beans at the store LOL.

I also bought a jar of ham flavoring and put that in a baggy so they could add it before serving for more flavor.

I found it with the soup/bouillon at Krogers. The brand is Orrington Farms and they have Beef, Chicken & Ham. It is a powdered soup base/stock which isn't as salty as bouillon cubes.

Anna, I think it works with the recipe since you are adding grated glycerin soap & water..so a few drops of food coloring is water based too.

Just my theory. lol

Last year I really did an old fashioned Christmas. I didn't succumb to the commercialism and everyone was surprised and then thrilled looking at the creative things they had gotten.

I intend to do the same this year too. It's more work for me, but the rewards are greater too.
Wish I had had the nerve to do this years ago.
