Hot tubs

Do any of you have a hot tub and how often do you use it?
I would love to have one in our backyard but for now it's just enjoying them at the occasional weekend hotel getaway!
I need to win the lotto!!

peace,train

We have a hot tub and my best advice for you is to buy one second hand. They are wonderful and most people really use them at first. Then you sort of get "caught up" on hot tubbing. Everyone I know that has one feels the same way. We use our's occaissionally but not that often. We bought ours 2nd hand for $1200. Where the new ones that were comparable were $4000-6500.

Hi than you for the information.

If you buy a second hand hot tub....how can you be sure it is in good condition? In other words, what do you look for?
Also, who/ how did you get yours installed? Did you hire out?\
Thanks in advance!

We were given a hot tub a few years ago. It was one that was in two pieces. My dh did a bunch of prep work and put it in an old back porch on our house (I say old, because we knew we needed to take it down eventually, it doesn't have a real foundation under it), it was nice while we used it, but our power bill went up a lot, when we used it in the winter because there is no insulation in the room we have it in and the air blows under the room. Aaah, it was so nice while it lasted. I used it everyday while pregnant with my last one, we just turned it to 90 deg. so it was safe and I was in it a couple hours a day. The filter started having problems, so with that and the high power bill, we just quit using it. We did find out what to do about the pump, but my dh has given up on it. I wish you lived closer, I'd just give it to ya!

Still havn't got a hot tub but still playing the lottery!! Anyone else been able to buy one or have access to one? (Or have a pool?) My sister's family has a hot tub so whenver I go to vist I sure do enjoy sitting in the hot water in the evening. (She lives 3 hours from me so don't get to see her as often as I would like....)

The closest thing I have to a hottub is my nightly bubblebath!!!!! LOL!

hugs, train

Hot tubs as in spa bath or the outdoor patio styled ones.
I know you can get the big spa baths in a bathroom but filling with water every time you use seems a waste to me.
A hot tub outdoors that keeps the water and you only empty a couple of times a year, is ok but still don't think I'd use it a pool would be better

My oldest sister has one of those spa bath tubs with the water jets, etc. I'm not sure they have ever used it they take showers for the most part. That bath tub is big enough for small children to swim in LOL. Of course her bathroom as a whole is bigger than my "master" bedroom.

chuckle love our tub!

We have an outdoor, built in hot tub that came with our house when we purchased it. It is wonderful!! We tend to use it only in the cold months (we live in California), but it is great. We could keep it heated at a constant temperature year round, but we prefer to turn it on 2 hours before we plan to use it. We set it to 104 degrees and watch the stars at night -- our kids loved it too, when they were in high school. Now it is just dh and me!
