Missibob, I liked those movies a lot too and always watch The Sound of Music when it is on TV. I think they usually show it around a certain holiday but can't remember which one right now.

I have always liked The Wizard of Oz and watched it every year until they quit showing it.

Judy Garland was such a beautiful young woman. It's hard to believe she got caught up with drugs and drinking when she got older. So sad.

I remember my family going to the drive-in in our station wagon. I can't remember what we went to see.
I remember seeing Mary Poppins when I was quite little.
'I would have to say The Sound of Music is one of my all time favorites.

The Sound of Music used to be my favourite, and the cinema I saw tht in. Changed to a Bingo hall and is now derelict.

Two favorites that come to mind from years gone by are "The Silver Streak" which I still like to watch from time to time, and "The Full Monte". I just rented, from Netflix, Gray Gardens, based on the true story of some Jackie Kennedy cousins. It features Drew Barrymore and Jessica Lange.

The walk in theatre my great aunt took me to as a child I still remember this day. The balcony was neat because you were so close to the stars; the ceiling was painted a dark blue and they had stars all over it and most must have had little lights in them because they twinkled! It was so pretty! That theatre today has live shows in it, but DH and I don't do those things so guess I'll never get to see if it is the same or not. We haven't been to a movie in years and years! Ever since we had cable and now satellite we watch our movies at home. We now have a separae building that we put our own home theatre in so now going to the movies is just a walk through the woods!

Cinemas

We had a flea pit which was called the Regent cinema , and when I was at school we used to go to the Saturday Matinees for sixpence. I saw Cliff Richard there.
