Broke back mountains the movie!

I watched the movie broke back mountains! At first I thought the movie is just love story about two lovers in the opposite sex! Well I was surprise to know that the theme of the movie is about the homosexual acts and passion for love! The movie is good and you can even grasp an idea about the homosexual passion for love. Is there anyone here who also watched the movie? How do you like it? In which part of the movie you liked most?

I saw the movie Brokeback Mountain a couple months ago and loved it. It is so much more than just a love story. It illustrates what the social moraes of the early 60's and 70's were and how that affected the gay community. It is a love story but also has several substories (the marriages and other friendships and work relationships) that also influenced their lives. I loved seeing the style of clothes worn, the cars driven, the music and the attitudes that were typical of that era. It is a great movie about love and relationships. Definitely worth seeing.

I plan on renting this one but I will be watching by myself... I think.

My husband says that he isnt interested at all in watching it and my neighbors (who we get together with a lot on the weekends) say that they are "against" this type of movie.

Their loss.

Sammi1961 and bligde, In your opinions, was it worthy of winning an Oscar? I knew that it didnt have a chance to win due to it's contents. Even today, as far as we've come in America, I don't think that "we" have our minds open enough to judge something on the contents for what it is without fearing that we will offend certain groups. This really disappoints me.

You know, that would be a tough decision. Crash was an excellent movie but so was Brokeback Mountain. I am not sure I could have chosen between the two. Brokeback was favored to win but Crash surprised everyone by taking the award. Ajrsmom, perhaps you are right, our society is yet open minded enough to give the story a chance. I think both movies were excellent and both deserved to win. Unfortunately, there could only be one winner.
