I broke out in a giggle & a big smile just thinking of yours doing that. Leah, that's mine, does a little dance in a skip circle, when she hears both the ice cream man & the mosq. control truck. Before you think she's too weird, I splain, I work for the environmental depts for our local government & one of them is mosquito control, so they kinda knew her before she was born & have been waving to her from my sliding glass dr since she was born & she knows most of the drivers so she loves to wave to them. As for the ice cream man if I haven't grabbed my purse before her little dance has ended she will do it for me, upside down at times so I try to be ready with change by the door so as not play pick up all the debri Oh how I love my dgd's

Thanks for ice cream man smile-eliciting memory. Ours as a child was an open round sort of thing with a hand operated jingling bells announcement. The one that my children experienced was an enclosed truck with automated musical, carnival sound. The ice cream bars are fairly the same....but not the price!!! I am glad they are still apart of our culture.

I remember my mom telling me that I couldn't get ice cream on one particular day since it was too close to supper. But I sneaked into her bedroom and got a quarter out of daddy's change stash and got one anyway. Well, she called me for supper so I hurriedly wrapped the partially eaten candy bar and hid it on the electric meter at the back of the house. Wasn't I clever?? I could come back and eat it after supper!! Well, of course, it was melted when I returned! What a lesson in deception. Still after all these years it is so vivid a memory.

Sonya, I usually chat with other Bobby fans during the race and we all were so happy to get that 3rd place! I'm still smiling about it today.

What will make me smile this week is going camping with my DGD, DGS, and DD as well as my friend, her DH, and there 3 sons as soon as the race is over on Sunday. Going to the mountains always makes me smile.

What makes me smile

Oh I don't post her often because I am usually trying to read everything while at work but this one I had to respond to.
I have to say this thread made me smile most because as I read everyones responses I was thinking about my own and noticed I was smiling.
There are so many things wrong in this world and were always on the run to get things done that we don't take time for us.
I smile while sitting on the porch swing my husband put on an old swing set for me for me, so I could sit out in the yard in the shade and read.
I smile after getting the house cleaned up and it smells and looks clean.
I smile when riding down the road and my husband reaches over am pats my knee for no reason.
Thank you for giving me a reason to sit and smile for a few minutes....
Hugs Barb

I outright laughed on Friday when my daughter and I were watching TLC's "what not to wear" and one of the hosts told their victim she was "stuck in the 80's". I asked my daughter if she thought I was stuck in the 80's and, after looking me over (like only a child can) she said (quite seriously), "I don't know WHAT era YOU'RE stuck in, Mom."

I laughed and laughed.

It still makes me smile when I think of it, I don't know why,...

Maybe I should have been offended, but I DID ask for it.

Jamie

Hi Barbp, Your post made me smile too.

You are so right....many of us dont slow down enough to smile.

I love reading the posts to this thread too because it gives me a moment to sit and smile.

My DD just walked up to me, climbed upon my lap and gave me "kissie noses"---(our version of Eskimo kisses). I have the best reason to smile right now!!! Talk about a stress reliever.

I hope I can post to this thread again... I found something else I hadn't thought about when I first posted...
Having all my children together makes me smile. My son lives out of town, and even though the DDs are close (one next door, one about a mile away) all work, & spouses work, and it's rare to see all of them at one time, but once in a while it unexpectedly happens! Sometimes they 'play' almost like they did when they were kids~ chasing each other and wrestling sort of things... their children look at 'em like they're nuts! But I love watching them have fun together~ it's so hard once we become adults to let down and just play... Those are definitely smiley moments for me!
