There is NO WAY I would want them to stop circulation of the penny... what the heck would Wal-Marts price cuts be like?? LOL (Picturing Sam Walton rolling over in his grave now) Besides the kids have fun picking pennies off the ground, saving them and rolling them. They use them for everything from a candy bar (rarely) to a jr.frosty, and sometimes a card or gift for a friend. (They do get 1/2 of my pennies also) This is a great starter for children to learn how to spend wisely.

Then I roll all of my pennies "on rainy days", cash them in and take them to the dollar store to have fun buying small gifts for the holidays.

A word to the wise ain't necessary - it's the stupid ones that need the advice.

I am also thinking about the tax rates in the grocery stores. Many are 7% or 8.5%. So, if a person buys something for a dollar and the penny no longer exists-what would it tax be then--10 cents?

I voted "No" wanted to make this clear so I wont see anything flying towards me.

What if we can round down instead of round up?

I must be dreaming, huh!

NO, we need the penny! Our sales tax is 6%, you know if they got rid of the penny the governmnet wouldn't LOWER our tax rate! They would RASIE it which then it would have to go to 10%! Who wants more taxes!

My Grandma always picked up pennies she found on the ground saying some day you may be a penny short of a million dollars.

I voted not sure. But by jolly! I read all your opinions after I voted and got so angry at myself for voting not sure!

I agree, my kids love to play with the pennies and I don't want to pay a penny more than I need to.
Have fun!

I say keep the penny. My kids as well as me love to save pennies. What we do save we use to buy a needy child a Christmas gift.
Here's a thought, if the penny is eliminated, round things down not up.
