I also have to say my fav books were the Little House series. I also remember the book, "Are you There God, It's Me Margaret". I must've read that book several times.

Little House Rocks!

I also was obsessed with the Ingalls' family - Little House on the Prairie is STILL my favorite book series. I think I've seen every television episode too. I have the entire book series plus all the ones about Caroline and Rose as girls too, and some non-fiction books about Laura.

My obsession started in 3rd grade when a teacher at my school saw me reading the book. She gave me a picture of the real Laura, Mary and Carrie and some information sheets, with dates and names taken from the family bible. I still have them. They are among my most prized posessions.

I think I even dressed up like Laura quite a few times for dress up events.

I also have read all the original Nancy Drew series and Nancy ranks a very close second to Laura.

To debknechtel: Wow, you know Trixie Beldon? I haven't ran across anyone who knew that series. I remember an old 5 & dime store, or whatever those were called, called M.E. Moses used to sell those in paperbacks for like a $1.99. I bought 6 of them and I still have them! I never got to finish reading the rest of the series though cuz the store closed and at that time that was the nearest store I could walk to.

But my favorite book is the Outsiders by S.E. Hinton. She wrote that book when she was 16 years old and I thought it was just wonderful, especially as a young teen, who was also somewhat an outsider, though not to the extreme of the characters in the book. I also loved the movie--all the hunks before they got famous--Patrick Swayze, Rob Lowe, Emilio Estevez, Tom Cruise, C. Thomas Howell, Matt Dillon, and Ralph Macchio. I still have my original book too.

I still have my first book that I purchased (well, mom bought it, I picked it) called Benjy's Boat Trip when I was in the first grade.

Hi.
I have always loved to read, and my favorite childhood books were Louisa May Alcott books. I still have the set of 6 including Little Women, which I adored. But, I really liked the Laura Ingalls Wilder books too.

When I was really young, about 8 or 9 I loved books by Thorton W. Burgess. They were animal stories. When I was 10-11 I loved the Alfred Hitch**** Three Investigator series about 3 boys who were "private investigators" who solved mysteries. I also loved the Laura Ingalls Wilder series and any book by Judy Blume or Norma Klein. Once I hit my teen years, Stephen King became the rage.
