I hope I never get too old

I hope I never get too old to............fill in the blank.

I hope I never get too old to ride the train. Whenever I take a trip I see people in their 80s happily riding the train and enjoying the scenery! This last trip I met a dear man who was 92 years old and just enjoying the trip so very much!!
I hope I am still enyoying the train when I am that age!

How about you, what do you hope you never get too old to do?

I hope I never get too old to be a musician.

Now I play guitar and sing at church. But I do think that at some point I'll look pretty silly, up there with blue hair, strumming away....I got an organ for Christmas this year and my goal is to learn to play it. Then I'll have that to fall back on.

Now let's re-think too old to go trick or treating!!! Give it a shot!! Just a couple of houses (before the neighborhood thinks you're nuts LOL!) I'll go this year, if you will...I am 55 hee hee.

Barbsy, lets get together and you can teach me to play guitar and I'll teach you to play organ. We will never be too old playing our instruments with our blue hair...lol.
I also hope, Girl beetle to never get too old to have a sense of humor. My mom passed away at 87 and she kept humor in her life until the pain got too much and she couldn't talk anymore. Even then, she tried to keep our spirits up.
I never want to be too old to enjoy grandchildren...now if I can just get some wonderful guys to see how special my 2 adult daughters are.

Elaine, that sounds wonderful! Let's swap lessons.
I can play my organ a little bit but not how it should be played. I am s - l - o - w at it but I can play a 1-note melody line, left hand chords and the bass note on the pedals. I don't get near the practice time I need.

I would be very s l o w too. Dh tried to teach me years and years ago, but gave up. Probably felt like he had to or not have the patience to marry me....lol.

If you have the basics of 1 finger down, and with your knowledge of music, you are doing good!

Elaine, I had almost 4 years of piano lessons in grade school. Now if I had only PRACTICED during those 4 years....

I am self taught on guitar but I only can play chords. Having the piano background really helped me. The other thing that helped was making friends with lots of people who played, and generally making a pest of myself as I got them to show me how!

I spent the last 3 years of high school really working hard to learn. Other than "maternity leaves" I have spent the last 25 years of my life playing guitar at church.
