Ok, I have quite a few here
Do you remember????.....
girls one piece gym uniforms (I couldn't get into mine after getting a terrible sun burn my senior year...ouch!!!)
it took five minutes for the TV to warm up
nobody owned a purebred dog
when a quarter wa a decent allowance
you'd reach into a muddy gutter for a penny
your mom-and/or you-wore nylons that came in two pieces and were held up with a garter belt
teachers 'dressed' for school-men woer neckties and women had their hair done and wore high heels
when a 57 Chevy was eeryone's dream car (my dad had one, green and white)
when boys and girls went steady ('going out' is what 'steady' was to us-I think??)
lying on your back in the grass with your friends and saying things like, "that cloud looks like a..."
when getting sent to the principals office was nothing compared to what would be waiting for us at home...we did fear for our lives, but not because of drive-by shootings, drugs, gangs, etc. Our parents and grandparents were bigger threats!! but we are still alive becasue their love ws greater than the threat...
Remember--Nancy Drew, the Hardy Boys, Laurel and Hardy, Howdy Dowdy and the Peanut Gallery (I don't quite remember that one), the Lone Ranger and Tonto, The Shadow Knows, Roy and Dale, Trigger and Buttermilk.
How about--newsreels before a movie AND a cartoon!
Peashooters..metal ice cube trays with levers...mimeograph paper...cork pop guns...the Fuller Brush Man...reel to reel tape recorder/players (my dh still has one of these)...erector logs..15cent McDonalds Hamburgers..Royal Castle square hamburgers..35cent gas.....
Decisions were made going 'eeny-meeny-miney-moe'; 'race issue' meant arguing about who ran the fastest; it wasn't odd to have two or three 'best friends';
the worst thing you could catch from the opposite sex was 'cooties'; having a weapon in school meant being caught with a slingshot or peashooter;
'Oly-Oly-Oxen-Free' made perfect sense; spinning around, getting dizzy, and falling down was cause for giggles;
the worst embarassment was being picked last for a team; War was ony a card game; taking drugs meant orange-flavored chewable aspiran; water balloons were the ultimate weapon
And one the worst things anyone wanted to hear was 'I double-dog dare you!!'
We donít know who we are until we see what we can doÖ Martha Grimes

Does anyone else remember "MY favorite Martian?" If my memory is correct, Bill Bixby was in it.

Actual typewriters that required typing paper and when you made a mistake you had to pull the paper out and start all over? No editing back then!

What about the cigarett candy? Remember when children could go in to a store and buy candy ciggys and pretend they smoked? That's one that I'm glad is gone!
Hmmmmm.... who could I be?? Guess who is hiding behind this username and win yourself an "I Guessed It" icon for your signature file!
