Salmonella?

"Is there a variety of egg (i.e. organic, brown, free-range, etc) less likely to generate salmonella? "

Can you help this reader?

actually most eggs do not have salmonella. But if they do the fresher they are the better, the older the more germs will be there. The only place/type I know of totally w/o salmonella is in europe where the chickens did not get exposed to it.

Salmonella appears in healthy chickens and there is no way to know that an egg is contaminated as it lives in a healthy femal hen's ovaries.

The best bet is to cook your eggs and eat them as fresh as possible.

Salmonella is higher on the East Coast than the West Coast.
