I need to know what I'm doing wrong!!!

My husband's favorite cookies are the no bake chocolate oatmeal cookies......one of the easiest recipes known to man! EVERY time I make them, they don't harden. They stay just as mushy as ever! They taste good, but are ridiculous to eat! I've tried putting them in the fridge, freezer, outside in the winter, and leaving them on the sideboard! WHAT am I doing wrong????

I'd consider putting anyone in my will (nickel for everyone!!) if I could find the answer to my dilemma!

tarajos~~~ Why don't you post your recipe so we can see what you are doing wrong. Do you add peanut butter to your recipe?

My recipe

I do add peanut butter.......I use about 3 cups oats, 2 cups sugar, 2/3 cups cocoa, some butter, maybe a half cup peanut butter.... I think that's about it. It's the funniest thing cause it tastes great & it would be logical for the cookies to firm up in the fridge.....I almost tried setting them outside!!!!! (I'm in Maine)

Any help ..... or a different recipe??????????

The recipe I use calls for boiling the mixture for 2 minutes. I do know if you don't cook it for 2 minutes it will not firm up. Also humidity plays a big roll in whether or not your cookies get firm. Good luck!

That was exactly what my problem was! I wasn't cooking the mixture long enough! I'm very happy it was something that simple!!
