I always keep q-tips with my cleaning supplies. There is always some corner that my rag or sponge won't get and there are a million ways to use them. I hate that gunk that gets around the edge of the bathroom sink and the swabs work great there.

If you are coming to see me, come any time! If you are coming to see my house, make an appointment.

Big Grin cleaning tips

I too keep cleaning supplies under the sinks in both bathrooms and the kitchen. One indespensible item for the shower is a product called Shower Shine(there are other brands that work as well) Any way;l once you have cleaned your shower and either cleaned your shower curtain or replaced it, start spraying your shower and curtain every other time you shower. The scum build up virtually ends!!! You must be consistant, though. Good luck, Judy

The one thing that has saved me hours of work and stress is to "Do It Now".

Put things back, rinse out the dish, place shoes where they belong, get gas when I'm 1/2 empty, etc.

I can't count how many times in a day I think, "I'll do that later", and then find myself in a panic when I run out of time.

Love & Prayers,
May God give you for every storm, a rainbow, for every tear, a smile, for every care, a promise, and blessing in each trial, for every problem life sends, a faithful friend to share, for every sigh, a sweet song, and an answer for each prayer.

Quick Cleaning Tips

I also have discovered the ease of cleaning horizontal window blinds - I put them in the tub with hot water which I had added a healthy squirt of my hair shampoo. I let them sit in there for a while (in this case 2 hours since I was running errands) came back in and just quickly moved my rag on each slat. They came out gleaming, and these were the kitchen ones right in front of my sink, near the stove, and they hadn't been cleaned in at least 4 years. BLECH!! Now that I know how easy it will be to clean them, I'll make sure they get done every six months.

Another cleaning tip to remove that bathtub crayon stain to use a nice healthy squirt of shampoo on a rag or dark washcloth and just start wiping. I was amazed at how quickly it came off.

I think there's a newfound secret with shampoo in my household!

Ok, I have a question~~I, too, have heard about washing your window blinds in the bathtub. But, the cords/strings that hold mine together are white. Do they become discolored when the blinds are soaking?
Thanks to anyone who can answer this for me!!!!

cleaning window blinds

I have not had a problem with the cords turning colors at all from washing them. And they do dry up quite nicely.

Here are directions for cleaning windows the way the pro's do.

September 13, 2005

How to Clean Windows the way that our ServiceMaster does:

3 dozen baby diapers, the cloth kind
Step ladder to reach bottom of windows
2 squeegees - 1 short, 1 long
0000 steel wool
Plastic sponge/rag scrubber on a handle (can be removed and washed)
2 or more people helpful

Remove all storms and screens.
One person does the screens by rinsing with wet diaper and solution (unknown, try LOC and windex), brush lightly, rag dry or whip dry and set in sun.
Same person can do storms. Storms done same as windows.

Wet window with sponge/rag scrubber.
Drag 0000 steel wool across all glass surface (not on frames).
Wipe an L: first across the top and then down one side. (Drag squeegee from dry to wet.)
Wipe up drips with diaper.
Polish up smeary parts although there shouldn’t be very many.

Two people worked on same window. One on inside, one on outside.
