Flat Stanley

My daughter exchanged Flat Stanley with her aunt . It was great,he went to a Rod Stewart concert,to work, buisness trip, plane and all. The pictures were great. Her aunt had a lot of fun doing it too.

Would someone please explain to me what these are? They sound like a lot of fun. Something to get the kids interested in instead of all the "fad" toys

Thanks,
Tami

Tell me about Flat Stanley to please

I would like to know about Flat Stanley also please. I am a Grandmother of two and watch them and would like to know if this is something we could participate in.
We live in Ohio.

the gist is this.......the child makes a cut out child and draws the face on etc. it gets mailed to someone who "takes it out" and then sends it back to the child with a letter telling of it's experiences.

Are there templates to make these kids? Is there a book/books to go with it?

OmommyO, I see that you said your kids just got through reading the flat Stanleys---what are they?

This is similar to the bunny that my son "took care of" for a weekend from his class. Each student gets to take the bunny home and they are supposed to involve it in their daily activities and then we wrote about it in a notebook for the class to read.

If I can get more info. I would love to have my son become involved with this to trade with someone.

Flat Stanley

I had the honor of doing a Flat Stanley project for a child in Pennsylvania last year. For those of you that are totally unfamiliar with Flat Stanley, go to www.FlatStanley.com

It'll tell you all about it!

Hope your kids enjoy the project as much as I did!

Becky, For some reason, after loading the main page to that site, I cant get to the other pages that tell about the story. I did, however, do some searching on Google and found out a great deal about it. How cute! Ive looked at many websites that people have made taking pictures with their Stanleys.

Where do you get the template for the body?

Ive read that everyone from 1st graders to adult participate in this too.

Do you think that the library would carry this book? One other question...Are you reading the older version of this story or the new version by Scholastic? Is there a difference? Ive seen the 2 books and there are different covers on them.

Thanks for the info. BBkim & Becky

Hi. I think you can do a search on google for paper doll patterns and find something there you like, or your kids can design one of their own.

It seems that I started this thread before other things started to wreak havoc in our lives. Unfortunately at this time I am not going to be able to continue on with the Flat Stanley idea. I do promise that as soon as we get some answers and our lives are back to semi-normal, I will come back. Please don't let that hinder your exchanges tho. I will be back as soon as possible.
