Basics
If you are homeschooling, give yourself the respect you deserve and treat it like a job. Schedule hours that you are your kid's teacher and not the volunteer, laundress, house cleaner, or cook. Some people realize that they need to hire house cleaning help just like when mom worked outside of the home. Especially true if you have very busy teens in organizations like an orchestra or sports.
Beware getting to busy with outside activities.
Kids books and workbooks go into Sterlite boxes (sweater size)from a Target or Wal-mart with color coded lids. Otherwise, they just set them down anywhere. Easy to take with you. Spend 3 weeks looking for a workbook she had put away o\in the orginal book; who'd a thought to look there. Hanging vertical file folders didn't work for us.
No school materials or books left on the counter so mom doesn't have to worry about them getting wet from spills.
Medicine - the chewables in the little boxes: I rip the end open so that the label sticks up; organized them in a simple carry tote from the Dollar Store. Round bottle sog in the other side. Totes re great for those spices I finally alphabetized also.
Mom needs a 3 ring binder organizer more now that her days of the business world. Calendar section and spot for each family member and another for organizations. Keep newletters, coaches info, sport schedules, kids' schoolplans. I cut out the info about an event an tape it to the back of that month; lkess paper that way. I use an ordinary but colored binder with the slide in pocket fronts. Great place to put day's info and find it while driving like directions. Or a cute cartoon about the overworked mom.
If we are stay at home moms why don't we ever stay home? Schedule sacred-we-stay-home days. Some go to the point of no dentist appts during school hours.
Phone: don't answer it if you're doing school.
