high school, the ACT and beyond

I am concerned my two kids are not ready to graduate. They are trying to study for the ACT tests but I know and they know they are not near ready for this. I wanted to get ds in program Standford offers for bright youth. He needs his ACT scores for that. Also with out ACT scores, can we get grants? I am so lost here. I think I will call or email Standford and the college dd is looking into. Any other ideas? Bottom line is the world will not stop spinning if we take another year to school before college. I don't want either child to become bored. They are looking into online classes in case we are still living here in the fall.

Connie--Many students, even the brightest, take the ACT test more than once. They use their highest score when filling out their college apps. I know many colleges that place less importance on the ACT and look at a more overall picture of the students including high school grades and extra curricular activities. It is best to contact the colleges you are interested in and see what their admission standards are.

Thanks Joy. I called Standford about the gifted child program. Ds doesn't need to take the ACT. They have online placement testing. As for dd we are taking another year for her to finish high school. With all her health problems why are we surprised? I will be contacing the college she is looking at to discuss what to do. She does want to take some online courses in the fall. I have two colleges to talk to for her. I didnt need to be concerned at all, I don't think the ACT are needed at this point.
