Question Letter of Intent and Curriculum Info

Hi! New to this board. I'm trying to find out what kind of content to include in the Letter of Intent in NYS. Also, I know people have talked about new hser's including too much info regarding their curriculum when they submit it to their district. What's too much? Thanks for all who can help. Jen

I would be happy to share with you regarding NYS homeschool laws. Feel free to contact me at [Please use the FC PM or E-mail option]. Also, check out NYS LEAH's web site at www.leah.org.

Hey Kelly!!

Fancy meeting you here! Someone mentioned to me that a NY homeschooler needed some info so I thought I'd look into it. I didn't realize you were moderating here. Nice to "see" you again!

I am a new homeschooler in Duval County, Florida. I contacted the school board and was sent a form to complete. It was very basic and only required my son's race, gender, name, the school he was assigned to, date of birth, address, my name, and phone numbers. The form asked if my child was in an exceptional education program (which he was) and if I have a valid Florida teaching certificate (which I don't). I signed it, dated it, and sent it to them. I then received a confirmation letter that I was homeschooling. I WILL NEVER volunteer any information not absolutely required. So far, this is all Duval County has asked for. Of course, I never said Florida schools were any good!!!

Maybe some help.

Hi, I'm from NC and what I did was contacted my state's dept. of NON PUBLIC education and they sent me the whole information package on the laws and suggestions, ect. which included the form to fill out.

Thanks to all of you! You've been such a help! I won't volunteer info either, but I want to have enough so I don't get hasseled. I didn't know there was a dept of non-public education. I'll have to see if NY has one. Thanks! Jen

Info

The Department of Non-public education is exclusive to North Carolina it seems. Here, we can get info from the NYS Department of Education. Just thought I'd share that incase anyone else was searching.
