Ideas for young detective?

We are interested in all things forensic right now; any suggestions? The P.I. in my house is nine years old, and searching for a mystery!

Hey, Kris! Nice to see you again!

A mystery, eh? I notice you are in CA ... do you have a "spring" season where you live, or are you perpetual summer? You could have someone gather buds, seeds and new blooms and have your PI figure out where they came from / what they are. How about animal tracks and scat?

If you're looking for books, there are the Encyclopedia Brown books, The Hardy Boys, Cam Jansen (if you have any younger PI's) and The Homeschool Detectives series.

Let us know what you come up with!

Homeschool detectives???

I'm not familiar with that series...what else can you tell me?

I like the "plant detective" ideas, too! Thanks. Kris

Oh how I love this!

If it were me I'd make a muddy shoe-print outside somewhere for Sherlock to investigate, or a smear on the outside of a ground floor window.

I would also take one of my gardening gloves with my gardening trowel and leave both outside of my gardening shed, then see how quick he was to match-up the single glove (found outside) with the other inside the shed.

I can think of so many fun ideas for this!

I would see if a microscope could be rented or borrowed for a season? with CSI so prominent on tv there will be loads of teacher activities you can find online too.

Have you checked out Gamehouse.com? They have some games to search for clues of who done it's, or PI games too. Some are free downloads.
