chuckle Major DUH moment!!

I cannot believe it took me this long to figure this one out lol!! I've been periodically checking Walmart for some cheap fabric to make some panels for the doors in my basement that divide the "family room" from the "utility room". Now. as some of you know, I've been working on getting rid of all the misc stuff we've accumulated down there. Anyways--as I was checking out some old sheets to make sure they were wirth donating, it hit me. DUH!! I could use an old sheet and make the panels out of that, instead of spending $10-15 for new fabric. So I picked one out and found that I didn't even have to sew an opening at the top, there was one already there. Plus, it's long enough that when I trim the bottom off, I'll have enough left to make matching valances for the windows on that side.

Can't believe I missed this one lol!!

Hehe--are you sure you want me to clean your place?? I've been known to toss stuff that people said they wanted lol!! I get a kick out of the one guy on "Clean Sweep" when he tells people that the stuff they want to save obviously isn't important to them because it's stashed in a broken-down cardboard box!

I sewed my valances this morning because I couldn't sleep. Now it's just a matter of finding the rods to put them on--they're down there somewhere!!

I haven't watched that show much, but that's a good point. If I don't think enough of something to store it nicely, why do I keep it?
I bet cleaning the basement with THAT in mind will help me get rid of a lot more junk.

I don't watch the show much, either. I do like the fact that they take into account the need for storage, kids, pets, etc. A lot of decorating shows just do whatever the designer wants with no consideration for the lifestyle of the family!

Hehe--I found a way to stash my kids ball-pit. I put it in a plastic tub and placed a wooden tabletop on it, then threw the cover for the table on top. Now it's accessible when the kids want it, but out of sight when they don't. AND I have a small table to set drinks and snacks on!

When I was trying to turn my 2 year-olds nursery into a big-boy room, I wanted a northwoods theme. I bought a sheet set with moose and bears, then bought a couple extra flat sheets to match. I used them to make curtains, throw pillows, even cut out some of the pictures and put on the walls. Turned out cute!

chuckle sheets

Sheets also make good table cloths. I have a 90" table and most of the purchased ones have seams, but I can use a sheet and have no seams.

My neighbor uses sheets for her table cloths, too. I am not sure of what sizes, but, the fitted sheet from a twin bed fits hers perfect, and with the elastic drawing up, nobody can tell. Such a great idea.

I am going to take my floor lenght curtains down out of my room and cut the bottom half off. The big yellow dog always lays against them against the wall and bends the curtain rod. I will take the excess and make throw pillows for the bed, maybe a cushion for the hope chest, and hopefully pull the room together.

My mom has a king size bed with all kinds of shapes and sizes of pillows and since a set of sheets only comes with 2 pillow cases, she takes another set of the same sheets, cuts them up to make pillow cases for all the pillows that match.

Be blessed,
beckie
