Which are you?

Which is your decorating Style?
Minimal clutter?
Cluttered with lots of interesting stuff to look at?
Or somewhere in between?

I have a toddler so my decorating style right now is "early Fisher Price"

There are some rooms we don't let him in much, but I try not to clutter up the tables or surfaces too much. I'm not a knicknack person. BOOKS, on the other hand, are everywhere in my house. The kids all have bookcases in their bedrooms, as do I, and there are 2 big bookcases in the living room. The little guy has his books in a big plastic bin in the family room right now.

Otherwise, I like things simple, comfy, uncluttered but not modern looking.

I would have to say I am somewhere inbetween.. lol.. I love knicknaks.... especially penguins but with kids and pets most things have to stay up high...

"Early fisher price"!!!! LOL!! I LOVE it!!!!! I think our house will always be "toys on the floor era" oh and who needs carpet when clothes do the trick!?!?!?!

lol..ok.. enough ranting...

I think I am probably somewhere in between.

I would like to be clutter free but I dont want to be boring

I have been working hard the last month to get rid of stuff I don't need, we just have one ds left at home and there are just so many things that we have kept through the years, and some we cant even remember why?

There are some things that the other kids can take to their house now too. After all I saved it just for them, right.;-)

Of course some things I will never part with.

My style is a sort of minimalist cottage style. It sounds like the two don't go together, I know, but it works for me!

I like antiques and old fashioned colors, but not a lot of stuff. I like a little "breathing room" for the items in our rooms. We have an iron and brass bed, with a sweet cottage look and it has a "light" look in the room. We don't have a large bedroom, so a dark, heavy piece of furniture would overwhelm the room.

I like lace curtains and valances for the same reasons. We don't have any heavy drapery anywhere in the house. Everything is rather airy and relaxed. We have a smaller than average sofa as well, in a light taupey beige color.

We like the the idea of "a place for everything and everything in it's place." There is a home for every item we own and we put them back when we are finished with them. Makes life simple and easy for us!

We get comments all the time, that our home reminds people of "Grandma's House", which is exactly the looks we were going for!
