What Do You Think Of This Hot New Color?

I'm an Interior Decorator & I end up working with only about 4 clients a month, so I wanted a wider range of opinion.

I was wondering what you might think about this trend.

The hottest color for 2006 is ORANGE!

What is your reaction to using this color in your home?

Have you jumped on this trend?

If so, what have you done that looks great and what has been a disaster?

I would love to know what you think.

Hi Melisa and welcome!

I am a color wimp. I tend to stay with neutrals and quiet shades of blue.

I have a more subdued shade of orange in my master bedroom and it looks great. It makes the room feel so much warmer. I think the new shade will work as long as the right accessories (border, window treatments etc) are used.

I'm not too much on colors..tend to lean more to off white, almond, light tans with color accents...I think that if my room were orange I'd feel like I was sleeping in a pumpkin.....

I wouldn't put orange on my walls but would use it for an accent color to update a room.

When we bought our house 18 yrs ago one bedroom had orange shag carpet in it, it was awful one of the first things we did was rip it out.

Although I love colors, orange or other fall colors are not something I like. I more enjoy blues, true reds, pinks, true greens, purple, and so on. My house is mostly blue and my trailer is blue, green, and teal, which I like. I've never been much on keeping up with the current popular colors in anything. I prefer to stay with things that I personally like. If I liked orange, I would like this particular room.

Happy face

I love the color orange in clothing -- a soft sweater or tee, but it is a little strong as a major color in home decorating. I do use orange as a decorating color accent in the Fall (pumpkins, tablecloths, etc.) but that is about it.

In general, I say "YUCK" to orange; it's one of my least favorite colors. This orange looks "OK" but I'd never use it in my home. I'm more of a traditional country look person.

I tend to have neutral colours on my walls but make up for the colour in my soft furnishings, I had a great couch and curtains with orange in them a couple of years ago and huge orange cushions, I think in the right place any colour can look good. But to go bold like that you need to go the whole hog and have it all just so, bed or couch or ......
I quite like that bedroom scheme but I would not have it in my house.
