Desks

Do you have a desk for your own personal use or do you share with dh?
Is your desk in your bedroom, living room..or do you have an extra room to use as an office area?
What is your desk like? Is there a "place for everything" or do you have piles of stuff but "know where everything is??!!"
What kind of memento or special photo do you have on your desk?

hugs,train

My husband uses our kitchen table as his desk. We have a desk but our computer is on it, and so is the printer and scanner, so there's not any room to sit and do bills. That's why he uses our kitchen table.

my desk

my desk is awsome, my DH bought me this a few months ago. i spend tons of time on the comp, with email, freebies and contests. i used to have sticky notes all over the place on the old one. this one has a big space in the center for my flatscreen and speakers, i have a set of shelves on each side, one side has a cupboard where we keep the disks for the comp and other discs. there are 3 drawers, 1 is for filing which is great, on the other side is where the tower goes, out of site. there is also a shelf across the top where we have the printer, light, stuffed animals i have won and the most special thing of all it the picture of my mom right above my flatscreen on the shelf. i have a lot of sticky notes, with notes on them, 2 pen holders for my pens, scratch paper, paper clips, stapler, scotch tape and numerous other things on my desk, oh ya the clicker for the tv too. the olympics are on and so are the races so the clicker is on the desk where i flip stations lol. i have a spot for my munchies and coffee cut, that is a gotta. thats about it for my desk

have a great day

Great Topic Train...

Since we've (ok...I mean I) have been in the process of redoing the office, this one is right up my alley so to speak.

My desk is part new part old. It used to be the small kitchen table in our first little (and I do mean little) house. It had a really old pine top on it and nicely shaped legs. Well after building and moving we decided to use it as our patio table and one night it rained on it and severly warped the top. Well just a few months ago my Dad built a new top for it out of birch. it is lovely and gleaming and smooth and the perfect size for my monitor, keyboard and printer although the printer will soon find a new home on top of the filing cabinets so I have room for bills.

I love the new and improved office and it's a good thing because I'm here a lot!!!

back to back desks

We couldn't share a desk. I don't understand how women can share an email acct with their hubbies? Makes me wonder what he reads?

Hubby and I share an office but he gets the desk with drawers and I get the matching table. We sit back to back and email each other so we won't disturb each others work. Means I do a lot of arm stretching exercises and 'please moves' to get something from a drawer. His big knees are always in the way. And he backs his chair into me all the time.

But we need rearrange all bedrooms and kids. He is moving into a room of his own so can lock out the kids and me. That leaves me with nothing but another table and no place to put it. This could become a saga of woe.

We are finishing the basement and a new master bedroom. I think he will find me in the bedroom with another ugly table because I don't think it will work to stay in the tiny room that a kid is moving into it.

I did get him though. He can't have a WHOLE room to himself. He must live with the camping equipment and many other items needing storage. I bought a metal 4 drawer lateral file cabinet today for $75 at a garage sale! Have to figure out where it will go in the mean time. We need to file more things of his. He's a terrible piler and shelf filler-upper.

Do you have a computer spot and a separate one for doing paperwork like bills? I'm trying to figure out how to rework everything. How small a space can I get away with? The new file cabinet will help.

Question A messy desk is a sign of....

....a packrat?
....a genius mind?
.....

I have a student desk that I have had since my first apartment. It has 5 drawers. My laptop is on top of it, as well as a "desk organizer" (HA! More like a place to stick things small enough to fit in it), my Palm Pilot in its charger, my cell phone charger, and a BIG PILE of things that I should deal with, as well as a binder where I have categories for each child, school, my church group, household, etc....

I seriously need to work on the mess on my desk. But it is much more fun to play here

Someone gave me a real desk with a keyboard drawer! The kind where the drawer front drops down so the keyboard isn't higher than my elbows. And she'll store it a couple of months while we finish up the basement rooms. Wow!

I think my messy desk is the sign of intermittent genius. Sometimes I do get it organized. I can usually find what I need better before I "organize" it. Hum.

Love your typing smiley...

I have REALLY been working on my desk today!!!
I took a "before" picture and will post it later.
When I am all done I'll post an "after" picture.
I have discovered that my desk is "brown wood-like substance" on top, not "various paper colors"
I am not going to let myself take the "after" picture until I find a home for all the stuff I cleared OFF the desk. I CAN DO THIS.

I think there is a challenge in there. I accept.

The picture idea is great.

I have wanted to take pictures of my house clean but I'm afraid my hubby will say why did you take a picture of the room. And I will have to say for the same reason I keep the candy the freezer. To make it last longer; to preserve it.
