Thank a Veteran Today-Veteran's Day (US) & Remembrance Day (Can), November 11, 2010

They Did Their Share
On Veteranís Day we honor
Soldiers who protect our nation.
For their service as our warriors,
They deserve our admiration.
Some of them were drafted;
Some were volunteers;
For some it was just yesterday;
For some itís been many years;
In the jungle or the desert,
On land or on the sea,
They did whatever was assigned
To produce a victory.
Some came back; some didnít.
They defended us everywhere.
Some saw combat; some rode a desk;
All of them did their share.
No matter what the duty,
For low pay and little glory,
These soldiers gave up normal lives,
For duties mundane and gory.
Let every veteran be honored;
Donít let politics get in the way.
Without them, freedom would have died;
What they did, we canít repay.
We owe so much to them,
Who kept us safe from terror,
So when we see a uniform,
Letís say "thank you" to every wearer.

Please take a moment to thank all of the veterans in your life, along with all of the other vets across the US & Canada.

If other countries celebrate this day as well, please let me know by giving a shout out here!

Veterans Day is very special to me. My husband is a Veteran of the Army. My first husband was activity duty Marines and I lived that life for many years. I even had my older daughter while he was deployed. My girls are my pre deployment and post deployment baby's!!!! Or my Irish Twins!!!

My oldest son is Active Duty Army.

I am a Blue Star Mother, Member of the Auxilary to the VFW and the Legion. So I am very busy on Veterans Day every year.

Tomorrow I am walking in a parade with my other BSM's. Then in the evening I will be helping at the VFW for there Veterans Day fundraiser. Saturday I will be at the Legion helping with a celebration.

THANKS to everyone that is a Veteran.

Don't forget about our veteran's this Veteran's Day - November 11, 2011.

My Dad (Army), brother (Air Force) and husband (Air Force) and FIL (Army) were/are all vets and now my son plans to follow in their footsteps by enlisting in the Navy.

I stopped using Veterans day to thank the Soldiers for their everyday sacrifices... Instead through my sorority I help send care packages to the Heroes, and anytime I am out of my home and see a veteran I say thank you, even if s/he is with their family - because as most of you spouses can agree, if you weren't military strong, they couldn't do what they do for all of us.. so many THANKS to you as well.
