I started thinking green and going green after we had our child. When she was a baby she drank formula and wore Pampers. While I was potty training her I used both the Pull-ups and the cloth training pants. While she was wearing diapers, I started making my own wipes. Then it kind of snowballed from there.

I'm a year round allergy suffer and during some seasons I can go through 4-5 boxes of tissue a week. That got me to thinking of using cloth tissues, so I bought some light weight cotton fabric and made cloth tissues, hankerchefs were hard on the nose. Then I started to use vinegar in fabric softener dispenser.

All the tips I got I read on line so I cannot take credit for them and I did not do them all at once. If I find a tip I like I will try it, if it does not work out then I have nothing to lose.

Zig, I too use the vinegar in the fabric softener dispenser. It works great, saves money, and I don't have problems with the fragrances (they bug my asthma).

People find it hard to believe but my sinuses can act up if I go through the house cleaning isle, the laundry detergent isle or the part of the garden nursery that has the chemicals in it. When I go through those isle's I have to cover my face with my shirt and I get funny looks from other people. I've been told that my scent allergies are in my head and not real. People don't understand that you can get a sinus headache smelling all those chemicals.

My allergiest told me many years ago I'm scent sensitive and I believe him.

When I started using vinegar I did it to cut down on always having to buy dryer sheets and having to spend all that money and vinegar is cheap.

Ziggee I have that problem down the soaps/laundry aisle as well the other horrible place is walking though where they spray perfumes in stores, they make me sneeze like nothing you've seen LOL.
I'm also a big fan of vinegar great for the laundry nothing gets rid of kids sweaty smelly clothes like vinegar in the rinse cycle!

I am the same way about scents. But my daughter LOVES them...I can always tell if she has sprayed something even if I'm not in that part of the house.
