I have received a bunch of cards and opened them all today. I was waiting to get past my CCD class prep before opening all my cards.
Thank you to Felicia (and for the tea too)
Thank you to Laurie (I have to say the gem on the front card was peeking out of the envelope looking like Rudolph...lol)
Thank you to Connie (Stellajean)
Thank you to Sharon
Thank you Kathy (love the "waffling on" on the back of the card)
Thank you to Cheryl (and for the tea too)
Thank you to Caroline (and for the snowflake ornie)
Thank you to Pam (you know I love snowmen, right?)
Thank you to Patti
Thank you to Colleen
Thank you to Val (glad you enjoyed both cards, hubby helped me pick it out...why is it spelled with a C sometimes?)
Thank you to Cecilia
Thank you to Lisa
Thank you to Leonor (and for the recipes too)
Thank you to Marje
Thank you to Maj (yours was the first to arrive!)
Phew! All done for now!

Donna, Great question! Since it is a Hebrew word the English language spelling we use is what's called a "transliteration" or the use of one script (Hebrew) to another (Latin) So the Hebrew word - חֲנֻכָּה - is written in Latin script based on the way it sounds. "Hanukkah" is easiest for English speakers to pronounce but Hebrew or Yiddish pronunciation has the guttural "Chanukkah" sound.. So for a Jew writing the transliteration, we write it as we hear it! It's like the "learn to speak Chinese" tidbits on the flip side of your fortune cookie paper.. written in both English and Mandarin. And that concludes the cultural lesson for tonight! <3 Love you!

Felicia, I thought I thanked you for the card and tea but going through the posts today I didn't see it. So just in case I didn't post I am saying thank you.

I received 2 cards yesterday!

Thank you, Cheryl, for the cute Santa card and the tea.
Robin, thank you for the pretty Joy and bookmark. It will have a special place in my bible. I love the meaning for the wooden JOY and what it benefits.
