What do you think is the reason behind the violence that we are seeing today? Such as kids shooting their friends in school or teachers.
Or an adult starts shooting fellow employees or walks into a store and starts shooting?

My opinion is, there is an general overall lack of respect nowadays, and with old-fashioned discipline (more or less) non-existent in homes today, kids are growing up to believe they are in charge, and with so many children growing up in homes where both parents work outside the home, there is a loss of direction and valuable teachings. In addition, our legal system is far too lax, and the gun-culture mentality has ballooned way beyond that of what it ever should have been allowed to balloon.

Laughing right now over the thought of how effective a round of yelling was in my home! The kids would take cover, scatter, and scramble! LOL!

To add...another thing I remember doing when my kids were due for a good-what-for, was march them into the house (or up the basement stairs) and with their each and every step, administer a smart spank to their bottom! LOL! By the time they reached the upper stair landing or back porch entry, they had already gotten their spanking!

Dear Hanna, My mother-in-law is coming for a visit next week. We have never gotten along, she has always made it very clear she dislikes her son ever marrying me. I've told my husband to let her stay in the local hotel during her 4 day visit. He said no way! I told him if she stays in our home I will go to stay at the hotel during her visit....He said this was fine with him .....Who's side do you take??

Just to keep peace with hubby
just go stay in the comfort of a nice hotel
and let him have the tine with his Mom.
Better that than you having to be around someone
who obviously does not like you. It is HER loss
Hoping things go well for you

I have to let everyone know that the questions I've been asking are just make believe questions,,,,,,,This was to be a thread like Dear Abby WHERE YOU ASK A QUESTION it doesn't have to be a true question or it can.....I just want everyone to know that any of my questions were just make believe.....I had a great MIL who passed a long time ago.

I am glad it it hypothetical also...so to respond, I'd be more likely to greet her in my home, for after all, it is MY home. If she misbehaves, it would be time for a talk with the two of them. After watching so much Downton Abbey I've been taking lessons on how to dislike and still be polite about it. The hotel reservation would not be for me.
