I had shingles on my head on the right side.
The first sign was a really bad headache. Then a rash and I felt awful. They itched and it hurt to touch it. Even hurt to touch my hair. I went to the dr. and was given a shot plus a pain med. Believe it's the same one that is used for Parkinson's because the shingles affects the nerves. Because I was given the shot, the rash didn't blister. This rash will blister and ooze. For me it was important to stop the rash before it got into my eye. I was on the pain med for 2 yrs.
Shingles comes from having chicken pox when you were a kid. It just lies dormant until later yrs when it comes back as shingles. It affects one side of the body, either right or left.
I have gotten the shingles vaccine as I can tell you I don't ever want to get that again!!

Have you gotten a new bra? I had a bra that caused me to become red under the breast. And it hurt. Couldn't even wear one for a couple of days. That thing got thrown in the trash. I used aloe on it.

Well, it didn't turn out to be shingles. It was red, itchy, and bruised feeling for about 4-5 days and then it went away. Strange. I wasn't wearing a bra because I was home, lounging around and enjoying my time off from school. It was a strange thing that went away. I won't argue about it though. lol

Shingles can be a pain and can be out breaks from the time you have them until forever.
I know from the stress I'm going thru this yr due to the wreck, the spots I had the shingles last yr I'm still having trouble from time to time.
shingles is something no body wants.

When my DD was 16 or 17, she developed shingles. Now, when she is super stressed or sick, she gets them. But, I didn't know how they first appeared before they actually develop into those sores.

My dh told me mine looked like bites. To me they were just red and very itchy...
of course I've learned now if you are thnking it may be shingles to get to dr asap, sooner you start taking meds to treat them, better it is for you. That longer you go for them to be untreated more likey you get them again under stress.
I waited for 5 days before I went to the dr.

John's daughter had them about an month before I did. and hers was not as bad as mine due to the fact she went to the dr asap, where I didn't.

As I am reading this I am very confused. My Dear dad had shingles about 2 years ago. It was HORRIBLE!!!!! But...I thought that it was because he never had chicken pox as a child. And that was what we have heard. And pain from these shingles is so intense. And my Dear dad has had enough pain.

When you get chicken pox as a child, that virus stays in your body dormant. Later in life it becomes active and is shingles.
I had then once and was on pain meds for 2 yrs. I don't ever want them again. I had the vaccine shot last year. I would recommed anyone 60 or older get it. Even if you have had them, you should still get the shot.
