Question Lasik Surgery

Has anyone out there had lasik surgery to correct near sightedness? I'm considering it but I'm concerned about the FDA's statements that "long term effects are not known" since it only started in 1998. I would LOVE to be able to see without glasses! The 2 friends that I have that have had the procedure highly recommended it but I'm still skeptical!
Thanks for any input!!
Mari

I have a friend that had it..and she loves not having to put on her glasses first thing in the morning. She says that's the best part... She is 51.

I tell my sister she should have it. She has 20/220 vision in one eye... I think it would help her so much.. but she is also a cautious sceptic...

Sorry I can't give you any advice. I hope you find someone with a little personal experience..

Val

My husband's co-worker, and also our coach for Dixie Youth Baseball had recent lasik surgery. He was a bit frightened at first as he cannot deal with pain, but everything worked out wonderfully. he said he was a little bit blurry for a few days, but now no longer wears glasses and can see great. He really highly recommends the procedure.
