NOT using a neti pot

I have a daughter who works for an audiology group so I trust this info. Evidently ent drs. are saying not to use the neti pots as you can cause ear infections. I suppose I can see how that could happen but I thought it was supposed to be so good to open and clean out sinus cavities. It must force the fluid into ear canals.
Any thought on this?

I can see their point, but I guess it depends on what you have the bigger problem with. Probably wouldn't use one on a child that has ear problems.

i had an ent tell me the same thing

it is important to not close both nostrils when blowing one's nose as that is what will force liquids into the ear canal(s)

also be sure to add a moisturizer to the salt...glycerin or one of the neti pot made ones

I knew there was a reason why I could/would not use one.

From the early beginning of people starting using it, I thought it's a strange way. For me it was simply terrifing! But it's really interesting fact @jokir. I didn't expect this awful method can cause such a problem...

I don't use the neti-pot thing but do have
a sinus rinse that I use WHEN I remember to do it
