Activity Is Therapy
Feeling blue? Don't want to go to work? Is the family giving you headaches? Or just feeling depressed and can't get out of it? Here's instant relief with absolutely no negative side effects:

Get up. Right now. Move. Use your body. Push a little harder. Get the blood flowing, the heart pumping, the lungs breathing. I promise you, in as little as 10-15 minutes you'll instantly feel better. You have time. Make time to feel better. Do it!

Great advice! I just finished a 10 minute dance break! On Sundays, my local rock station does 'psychedelic Sundays' with music from the 60's and 70's and it is on now and I just had to get up and dance! -- I know I'm giving away my age here ;-)

Anyway, you're right, I feel energized!
Lorraine.

Boosting the Brain

Feel like your memory is getting worse with every passing birthday?

It happens to all of us as we age, but a growing body of medical evidence suggests that lifelong stimulation is the key to building brain cells, staving off memory loss and maybe even preventing Alzheimer's disease.

Research has found that doing interesting work (paid or volunteer), pursuing hobbies and engaging in an active social life can help.

Try challenging yourself with music or language lessons, plan a trip with friends, or just hunker down with a good crossword puzzle this weekend.

And while you're at it, do it all with a smile. Studies show that a positive emotional state is also good for your brain.

Homework: EXERCISE YOUR BRAIN!

Meditate Everyday
Please take time to be silent every day, if only for a few minutes. This will help you immeasurably in your program for wellness of body, mind, and soul.

Find a quiet place, and just sit and close your eyes. Try to put your attention on your breathing--in and out, in and out. Let any and all thoughts (and they will come) just float by.

If you wish, you can say a prayer. Or you may find that repeating a chant, or mantra is soothing and freeing. Try this: "I am. I am. I am." Or, "God, I need help...I need help...God, I need help."

Let it be only a few minutes, or more if you can. Just as you’re ready to open your eyes again and return to the world, take a second to appreciate God for the care and help you receive, for your life, and the fullness of grace that is yours.

Especially do this when you’re about to overeat, or feel very lazy and don’t want to get up from the chair.

It is so important to take the time to relax and enjoy your time when you can get it. candles are a great idea for Christmas my son got me a hot plate for jar candles that plugs in so there is no flame to have to worry about . You just put the candle jar on the plate, plug it in ,turn it on and within a few hours the wax melts and the candle lasts longer and smells great. A good idea for candles that may have lost their wick but there is still a lot in the jar. A nice hot cup of tea is always a good one to help with the stress of the day. I have a fish tank in my bedroom so at the end of the day I can peek in and watch them gently swimming around. You of course need calming types of fish to put into it. I have surrounded myself with all kinds of plants , fountains and find also that classes such as Qi Gong and gentle Yoga are a huge help for destressing , relaxing both your mind and body .Afterward you feel very peaceful .I think it's a great idea to set aside a special area that you can look forward to going to so you can relax and be at peace.A cozy spot to curl up with a good book or just clear yout mind for a bit. Have a hot cup of tea and look out the window into your garden or into nature if you can. A place where you can have your favorite afghan on the back of the chair to curl up in ,some gentle music like yoga classes have .If you have one sitting in front of the fireplace and just feeling the warmth of the fire and watching the flames is nice as well. I think we all need to take the time for ourselves if only for an hour it helps us re-energize and afterward you feel so much better.
