Dear Theresa -

Run, do not walk, to the Cleveland Clinic - even if it means going cross country. They have the most advanced treatments for eye problems, including glaucoma, in the country. You only get one pair of eyes, and they should not be "fooled around with." Your optometrist should have told you immediately and started treatment right away.

If this started less than 2 years ago (less than 1 year in several states) you might even have grounds for a lawsuit against him. This is a very, very serious breach of the standards of care, in my opinion.

Your side effects are a little bizarre, and may or may not be related to the particular drops you were using. The specialists at the Cleveland Clinic can tell you what was related and what was a coincidental effect.

Prayers going up for you!

Theresa..I just stumbled across this thread this morning and am so sorry to hear what you have been going through with your loss of eyesight..
I have a great Optometrist..He is very thorough..Last year he thought I may have border line glaucoma and ordered
two different tests through a specialist..both test showed that I didn't have it..but he was on top of it...this year he ordered the same tests because he will now have something to compare with each year. I go for the visual on 12/4..they also added another test this year which checked the retina..
I was referred to an Opthamoligist for my cataracts which are getting thicker as I type...The Opth. also did another test which I had not had before and confirmed that I don't have either the glaucoma or detached now I will eventually have the cataracts insurance thing that I am dealing with.
It was scary to say the alone and so far from any family I wondered what I would do if I lost my eyesight..
My Dad had cataracts that were inoperable with his diabetes back then (he passed in 1968)..and I can remember my Mom being his "eyes" for him...
I wish you all the best..You are lucky to have a husband who is supportive..and helpful..I will keep you in prayer.
"You will be forever missed Margaret..."
