Lifestar, Thanks for the info on a new drug for FMS. Iwill ask my DR. about it when I see him this month.

Our weather here is cold and that is really affecting me..I ordered some thermal underwear and hopefully they will be here soon. I am under the weather so to speak today, but I did get out to Vote. Trying to take it easy today, I was outside for a couple of hrs. yesterday working on wrapping trees and putting away garden equipment...I had on,(don't laugh) heavy jeans, woolen socks,&shoes, gloves with additional silk liners, 2 shirts, earmuffs and a winter coat with a hood. I looked like I belonged to the Yukon Territory...I still got muscle cramps and I am paying for it today but I got the work done! Hoo-ray!

Actually when we do get our snow, it gets drier and with large banks around your home you are quite warm...it is just this time of the year and Spring when the cold goes straight to the bone and cuts in!

I am not letting this @#$! FMS get the best of me...I can hurt if I do nothing, so I am going to continue to do what I want! LOL

I am adapting to a new attitude thanks to Ladyinmaille, Lifestar, and everyone else that has provided such great advice!

I am rolling on....

janet

Yes, thanks Val

I printed out the article and will take it to my Dr. next month. Thank you for taking the time to study up about this.

Janet, that rips my garters too that you can sit and do nothing and you still hurt. It's like feeling like you are hungover and you haven't had a drink.

I fixed a big pot of ham and beans and corn bread for supper tonight. I'm stuffed. I usually like to fix fried cabbage with it but nobody likes me the next day at work.

Have a great tomorrow. I'm headed for bed. Hugs, Linda

Hurrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrraaaaaaaayyyyyy!

Hey Ladies.....

Well, guess what????? Wonderful news. What I have been doing the past two weeks...and there is more...but will tell you all that later...Just to let you all know what is going on with me and all my doctor's appointments.

I went to an appointment first, as you all know from my previous postings; on Halloween to see a new doctor. This was for second opinion of all my symptoms and medical conditions. I gave her a list of all my concerns and what was wrong with me and that I needed it all taken care of. I also asked her if she could check me for Fibromyalgia. She said wait until all the other tests were in.

But a few days before I had gone to see this lady doctor. I went to one of them doc-in-a-box, you know the ones in those shopping centers and corners like a 7-11.

I told the doc-in-a-box; because I was having really sharp shooting back pain on the right side of my lower back, near my waist. He then says,"Well, I would suggest that you get a gastro-bypass and all that is wrong with you will go away."
I was so upset I started to cry. I had been in pain for three days so far); and by him saying that the gastro-bypass will help you lose weight and also be good for your medical problems. He gave me predisone (anti-inflammatory) and perkcoset (pain pill) when needed. Spelling not too good sorry..I hate taking medicine but I took them.

When I went to see the lady doctor; she had blood drawn, urine, and then gave me 4 consults. She wants me to see this doctor at the complex near me called Orthopedic/Sports Injury Specialists (my x-ray showed no pinched nerve or compressed disks) which is fine with me and he is sending me to a physical therapist; which will start on Nov. 14th at 9:30 am, this will go on for 6 weeks. Twice weekly. I am also having troubles with my knees popping and clicking. They hurt like heck too especially when I sit too long and stand long. He learn more when I go back to him after the physical therapy

Well, a week after getting the blood and urine checked; they called and told me I had a bladder infection and to come get medication for that. Also, that my cholesterol was 120, not sure what that meant was it high or low???. But will hear more from the doctor then, my appointment is on the 2nd of Dec. And the ones from all tests given from all the doctors, it will before Christmas or just after not sure. That part I am happy about.

Now I went to see another ENT for second opinion too, because I had my trachea hole closed and he asked me when that happened. I said I was not sure when it did but it was either March or May 2002. He is sending me back to get a sleep study to see how bad my sleep apnea is. He said it should have been done sooner. He gave me medication to take for allergies and then told me to take Flonase spray twice a day up my nose. After the sleep study results he said if they show my progress going backwards. Then he will CT my head, do surgery on my nose (deviated septum) and not bother to do my tonsils or my upper palate or (ublia that thing that hangs down in your throat)

Now, I have a cpap machine to assist me at night; but I felt like I am suffocating when I use it. So tomorrow I go back to the hospital that did the study in Jan and make arrangements to get another one. Then he wants to see me the 29th of Nov. to get the results. Wish me luck...lol

I am also on Wellbutin for my depression my GYN doctor I went to in the middle of all this said it would probably help me through all that is going on stress and nerve wise. I hope so. I hate taking pills.

Whew!!!...did I get it all in...Man, so any who...That is that...talk to you soon...bye, Cheryl

Cheryl

Hello, kido. After reading all of that I am confused. However, it really sounds like you are searching for answers for your health problems and not giving up. That's good. Me understanding everything is not important. I'm just happy that you are continuing your search for answers.

I hate to take medicine, too. I've been fighting a bladder infection for a couple of weeks now but finally had to break down and go to the Dr. today. She said goodness sweetie how long have you been walking around like this? I fibbed and said a few days. Didn't want her to know how long I'd put it off. I thought if I drank enough cranberry juice and water it would go away. Not.

Hope by now you are getting a little relief. Don't give up. Keep making those Dr. apptms. Don't be like me and avoid the Dr. as much as possible. Do as I say, not as I do. I think someone once told me kids follow your examples, not what you say. I guess that is true because I have a son and daughter that will walk on hot coals before they will go to the Dr. Fine example I was.

Ladyinmaille, Glad you got to the Dr. and got meds for your UTI. You know, its not wise to wait when you are having urinary problems....you don't want to be sepsis. A posioning caused by microorganisms, it can go throughout your system. You had to be miserable...try to remember to drink water everyday...plain water. I have dipped alot of urine samples while I worked in the Lab. and I have seen my share of gross urines.

Take care & get well,

janet

UTI ugh!! Sorry for the long posting.

Hello Janet and Ladyinmaille,

Last couple of weeks I have had a terrible shooting pain in my lower back area, but not in the back, off to the side of it (if you know what I mean); around my waist.

I told one of my gf's about it and she said, "That it could be bladder infection." I showed her the area around where it was and she said, "You should go see a doctor about it before you get worse." "What can happen if a bladder infection if it is not caught in time?"

So that very same night I went to that doc-in-a-box like I had said in a previous posting. That is where the doctor who didn't treat me for my bladder problem (with no urine test or blood drawn at all). Then proceded to tell me that I should think about having a gastric bypass surgery.

I drink tons of water everyday, try to stay away for sodas and caffeine (do not drink coffee at all). So maybe have to have a change in what I eat that triggers these pains and etc. ????

Come to find out the next week, when I had an doctor appointment which is was where I am getting my second opinion. It is being played out and I was to see if I have Fibromyalgia, which is still not diagnosed as you all tell me with a test (is on back burner by doctor's so far.

I have a bone density test coming up. Then I have a referral for a urinalogist (not spelled correctly) about my stress incontinence problem, have to wear them darn Poise DEPENDS! I HATE THAT......Also as soon as I get my sinus problem over have a head cold, will get my flu shot. What MORE could be happening to me? Keep the faith dearie, lol keep the faith.

Man, is that a run on sentence or what? My english grammer stinks and who knows where to put the """"Quotations anyways?""""

NOW BEFORE YOU ALL RUSH ME EMAIL ON THAT STATEMENT: (YES I DID ASK IF THEY COULD TELL ME) I could just see all of you rising off your computer chairs as I said this... . Got to love you all

I have a sleep study to do again; to find out more about my sleep apnea after closure of my trachea in May. How many episodes of not being able to breathe or when I stop breathing per hour?
My first study was 105 episodes an hour. Then the second study was 59 episodes and hour. It will be Nov. 17 I go to hospital at 9:00 pm and then fall asleep at 11:00 pm (Now this is what I(NORMALLY) do when I try to hit the pillow; but your know that doesn't come easy either. As to statement above, what is NORMAL anymore...

I have been ordered a new mask for my CPAP machine (it fits in the mouth not the nose; which is blocked left nostril on me deviated septum there. Looks like a big pacifier fits in like I said then suction keeps it closed over your mouth. I can not wait to get that thing it will also include a heated humidifier these are extra. The lady technician said, "Hopefully, your insurance company will pay for this one.") It's an Oracle # # # so and so!

Also I told her I was so glad to see her again, because since my last two sleep studies; she was my tech then, she knew about all that has been happening to me. She said, " Have to fix the main problem first." Told her want the doctor had said about the gastro by-pass. She said, "First things first, fix this and then see how you do with the other medical problems you have." Not that all doctors are not listening I think, to clear her from making a statement on record inside the main hospital where this sleep center is. So wish me luck.

Last time I had a head device for my CPAP machine, and I looked like I was wearing the hose to my portable old fashion hair dryer over the front of my forehead, it then fited over my nostrils (this device was called Pillows). Now your going to love this one, "Even my cat, which had just walked into the room, looked up my way in the recliner and did a double take. He looked like he was saying "What the heck does my mistress have on her head this time?" "This humans, sure are fun pets." You know no one owns a cat...too funny.

So will keep you all posted on my continuing saga. Those Wellbutin, seem to be kicking in too. Percocet (which is for pain is giving me the worst nightmares, like a book being flipped with comics in it). So that is a side effect I do not like. Stop taking them. Pain is almost gone anyways, hitting the Tylenol PM when I need too.

I am not the kind of person who likes to take pills either. But one day at a time that is all I asked to get through. Keep me in your thoughts and prayers. Whew...yes I am finished for now...thanks for letting me vent and ramble again. Bye, have a good week and keep on smiling like I do, then people will wonder what your up too...hehehehe! Cheryl

Cheryl, Well, it seems as if you are getting all bases covered with medical advice...good for you! Maybe they will come together with a solution to your problems.

About urinary tract infections...if it hurts to urinate, you need to see a Doctor, or if you try to void and cannot, or if you only go small amounts and always feel you need to go. Bladder infections can make you very ill.Usually a person seeks medical care before that because of the symptoms stated above.

I also have 2 friends that sleep with a CPAP. It has changed their lives. Their mask fits over the nose and mouth. It took them about a week to get used to the noise and sleeping with the mask. Both friends feel so much better...and the plus side, they both lost weight. One lost 50 lbs. and the other lose 70 lbs. It was amazing for them.

Lower back pain is a complaint that alot of people have. I was always told the more you have out front the more back troubles you will have. I guess that is why it is better to have a body shape like a pear, instead of an apple. Sometimes a new mattress is the answer to, especially if you sleep on your back.

I can't believe a doc-in-a-box would encourage you to have gastric bypass. He doesn't know all your medical history and that is a serious operation. There are always risks involved with any operation....heck just going under, is a risk. Do you have a regular family doctor? If so, what does he or she say?

Good luck on all of your tests...and I hope they can find a plan for you so you will feel better. You are in my prayers and thoughts.

janet

blushing Yes, Janet

I was a bad girl. I tried to cure myself with monistat and water and cranberry juice. Only I didn't start them soon enough. I deserved a whack on the fingers. I promise next time I'll go sooner. Thanks for caring.

Cheryl, congrats on enduring even more Dr. apptms. I will keep you in my thoughts and prayers that everything will get worked out for you.

Ladyinmaille, Don't want to scare you but I have seen people die because of an UTI...mostly elderly, but it is terrible to watch. Thank God that most people can't stand the discomfort and seek help.

I want to thank you for the ah-ha moment, what you said about accepting Fibro, it was a light bulb moment...thank you! I am doing okay with the pain, been taking tylenol, and keep moving forward. My head is fuzzy, so if I already told you this, I know you understand. You are a good friend.

Wow, have I been away from this board for a while! For some reason, I wan't getting e-mail notifications about postings?!

Anyway... Linda..yes, please I hope you are on antibiotics for your UTI..YOu too Cheryl...

I had pylonephritis..(a bad kidney infection) once, from an untreated bladder infection...I thought it was a pulled muscle in my back..(as a Paramedic we pulled our backs a lot)...but then the fever and the NVD started out of the blue, and I passed out cold and woke up in the ICU.

Sepsis... a leading cause of death. And kidney infections are the leading cause of sepsis... and untreated bladder infections are the leading cause of lidney infections and...well I was 22 and VERY lucky. I didn't need a transplant or dialysis or an undertaker....

I had hemmorhagic cystitis for a month afterwards... it was awful.

Cheryl..did anyone take a look at your gall bladder? Do you have that right sided pain all the time? associated with eating, or does it come and go whenever?...

Your descriptions are kind of confusing in your posts....

But you're dealing with a fibro-fogged lady here

The bottom line I get is that you are happy with the care you are getting from you new GP , and you are glad with the follow-up consultations that are coming your way.

ENT, Sleep study, Urologist, GYN, and Psychiatrist....(has anyone ordered any x-rays or ultrasound tests?) Keep us in the loop...It's so exciting to see that you are getting the attention you deserve.

******************

Linda, I hope you are feeling better too...

I saw your "out law" pic on the other posting! HIllarious! In my family we "In-laws" call ourselves "out-laws" too...just for fun... becuse we tease and make trouble ( all in good fun) <and because I'm a different religion too... > It's said with a lot of love... So I thought it was a hoot to see you refering to yourself that way.

*****************

I'm back to the doc on Thursday... My back is so much better..but the other little things are crying out for attention. This weather is surely not helping me. How are you all holding up?

Love to you all....
