yes oh yes ladies, please keep taking your throid medicines. That is a for life thing. Back in 2004 i spent a month in the hospital because mine was so low. I was a walking dead person my dr. said. My kidneys started shutting down, my pituatiary gland was stopping. All this because i hadnot went to the dr. when i first started having problems cause i thought it was because age was catching up. Now i know you can die from it, so please go to your dr. and explain you can't buy any at the present if you don't have insurance. Get the samples. Trust me from someone who definitely has been there. I know about the weight gain, slow metabolism, dry skin, hair loss, falling asleep any where. Its no fun when they tell your family if you live thru the night, you might have a chance...

I can tell when my medication isn't strong enough... My eyelashes itch and fall out. I know my meds are strong enough for how I want to feel. I would like to increase the dose until I am hyper then back the dose off. Doctors do not do that anymore because is can be hard on your heart. Which is harder? Not having enough meds? My skin flaked off like a lizards skin. It was so gross. I bought some kelp but haven't started using it. Need to get it out and use it.

Generic of Synthroid is $10/90 pills at Target. Probably Wal-Mart, too. Total Price for everyone( insurance or co-pay not needed).

Thank you Cyncerp,
I've tried, I've gone all the way to Federal court, because I'm a federal employee. I know I can get generic meds for a low price but I need the prescription first. Affording the doctor appt and lab work, is what is hard right now. Since I am not working . Since my spinal surgery.

Let your doctor know that you don't have insurance. They may know of a low cost lab & then just get what you need done & not the whole workup. Also the doctor may give you a break on his fees. I did this when I did not have insurance last year, went to a lab that cost me $40.00 for the TSH test, & the doctor charged me $20.00 which was less than my old co-pay. Also this lab did not require a doctor's note since I was paying for it but they did forward the results to my doc before my appt. It was my doc's office that gave me all the info on the lab.

how about a free clinic in your area. Or a health dept. My 1st dr. that found mine started me just on .5 miligram tablet cause he also said that starting at a higher dose could cause a heart problem. But i was so low--3?? low that the hospital started me at 300miligrams and it took me about 18 months to get to where i needed which is 150 now. It went down to 125 but i had to have it uped a little.

I will say prayers for you that you hear back from someone soon. There aren't any free clinics in my area either.

I think that the Generic Synthroid is around $10./30 pills (probably depending on the dosage) at WalMart but I could be wrong since I cannot take it. I've been paying $30. a month per prescription for mine because it's taken so long to get it regulated. Now that it is, my insurance requires that I use their mail system and order it--which will save me money, it's $60. for 90 days (still too expensive!).

With all of the allergy problems that I have been dealing with, I never gave it a thought that some of my thyroid meds might be a problem.

I hope that you are feeling better soon!
