Thanks for all this good info, Lifestar. I am needing some good recipies and will look up the website you posted.

PS................I realize this post is several years old but I have just recently found out my cholesterol is high so this is all new to me!!

My DH is battling this problem only because he doesn't eat the stuff that he should. But, here is what I have discovered that helps your body with increasing its HDL and lower the bad LDL.

Alcohol in small amounts (DH doesn't drink, but it is on the list if you do)
Olive oil
Legumes
Oats
Fruits
Vegetables (Yes, you can have all the avacados you want unless you are also watching your weight)
Stay away from trans fatty acids

Good luck Donna. If you like these foods and others that were mentioned, I bet you'll do fine. I just wish I could get my DH to eat these foods--especially the veggies and legumes.
