How long has it been since you've changed hairstyles?
I would only share this embarassing fact with my closet friends (that's you guys )...It's been 20 yrs since I've really made any major changes to my hair! Sure, I've gone shorter or longer in length and added a few layers in between but it's basically still the same mid-length, curly (permed) brown hair.
I've been searching for a while now for a new cut and style that I would like to try but so far, I haven't found anything. I like me hair permed because without it, it's poker straight and baby fine--and I cannot stand it just laying flat on my head!
I'm going to use the tips in this article from FC, to find the shape of my face--I think that it's round - and then I'll continue my search for a new hairdo! I'm so fearful that I will finally get up the nerve to do something different and I will hate it!
Over time it's become my security blanket--is that pathetic? Oh, I need a life! ROFL!!
Am I the only one who had done this?

I got a haircut right before the summer semester began, but it wasn't an exciting haircut.
As soon as I have time, I am going to get another one. My biggest problem is finding a hairstylist who can cut my hair the way I like it. Years ago I had a terrific hairstylist. I wish I could find her now that I have moved back. I have a friend whose DH is a stylist. I may look there and see if he will do it.

I'm guilty too. I have always had basically the same style except for a few years when the kids were little and I cut it short. my hubby wasn't too happy about that LOL
I have naturally curly hair and a lot of people compliment me on it, but DH doesn't like it, he prefers when I straighten it. I do both, depending on my mood.

No you are not alone Ajrsmom. I have had the same to similar hairstyle for years. I recently saw an article on Yahoo News that said that if you were able to place your newest driver's license picture next to one ten years ago and the hair was same-to-similar, than you are in a "hair-rut". Apparently I have been in the rut for years!!!
I have attempted to have a couple of hair style changes, but with distasterous results. So, out of fear my hair stays the same. Now with the added pressure, I have been searching for a new hair style for awhile. My main object is to make sure that the "cut" will be easy and quick to maintain as I am not the type of person who has patience or talent to have nice hair.
So I completely share your pain. LOL

Ajrsmom, I recently, or sort of recently changed hairstyles. I looked at a college picture of me taking back in 1985 and realized I had the same hairstyle! I have changed lengths, sometimes had layers, but basically had bangs and long straight hair since forever. Last October I started growing my bangs out. I had tried many times before but alwaye ended up cutting them. This time I succeeded. My bangs are now chin length and I just cut my hair to shoulder length and eventually hope to get everything the same length. Ok, so I guess I am still in a "hair rut" cause the only thing that has changed are my bangs!

I'm afraid I'm one of those people who get bored easily LOL At least every 5yrs I go major and in between my hairdresser works on different colours or variations on what I have. I've had it longer now for about 3yrs but we've done colours and he's letting it grow to do something with it, that is to come about soon I'm told.
He says it's rubbish that women over 40 have to have sort hair it's all about the face and how you carry off a hairstyle, I said good cause I'd haunt him till his dying day if he sent me home with a hair do that didn't suit me and then I'd send my kids around to live with him LOL .... that did it LOL

I get it coloured regularly and often play with foils and highlights. Pretty much, unless it is permed then it doesn't matter how it is cut, it sits straight, wispy and flat (like Tami!).
So at the moment it is very boring, but we are about to do something exciting . . . ???
