I happen to think that most women over 40 look better with hair shoulder lenght or above.

I agree Tami. My hair is long but I wear it up in a twist bun with a clip all the time. Makes dh happy that it's long but makes me happy to keep it out of my face.

I think that your hair length and age have nothing to do with one another, so you should have your hair length what you want it to be. I am 40 and have hair down to my butt! And I don't plan on cutting it for a long time, if ever.

Pinkie Winky

I am almost 43 and my hair is blonde (with a little gray) and shoulder-length.

I think the only way women over 40 look good with longer hair is if it's in good condition. Meaning no split ends and not stringy. If it's thick and full and healthy with no split ends, then it's beautiful no matter what your age.

Definitely not. Most women I see over 40 do not have pretty hair and it looks like they've never seen the inside of a beauty salon. The only ones I see are celebrities or local TV anchors.

Is there a way I can post my picture and you can tell me if I look inappropriate with my hair past my shoulders? I think it looks lovely, but I'm certainly open to input from you ladies.

It is a RARE woman over 40 who looks REALLY good with long hair! Only if it's thick, healthy, shiny, and in absolutely TOP condition! And only if it's STYLED and/or colored (naturally or chemically) to flatter her face! Most women over 40, and certainly by 50 look best with their hair UP.

I realize that many men of all ages want their women (of all ages) to have long hair, and that's great, but in public, her appearance is generally best presented with hair up, or cut short!

BTW, these generalizations could also apply to the younger crowd! Squeekly CLEAN, shiny, healthy with no split ends, thick, styled becomingly, etc., or shorter would be more flattering and youthful!
