I do most of the grocery shopping as I plan the menus and make up the grocery list. I try to get him to help me keep up the list (on the fridge) but he sometimes forgets to put things down when he uses the last of it. Still, he does try. He is very good about running to the store for me when I need something to complete a dish I'm preparing. When he does the grocery shopping, he tends to spend less than me but he also buys much less so we have to go back sooner.

Who does the shopping

I do the shopping mostly, but my DP comes with me sometimes, as he wants different things from shopping.

Hi y'all! I'm posting from work

Depends on how bad I'm feeling - DH will **ONLY** do urgent or emergent shopping, and I do the other. We use Schwan's a lot, and get Angel Food Boxes (which I can order by mail and our kids pick up for us).

Sometime my DD does some shopping for me, or DIL (eldest son's wife).

Thank goodness for the little electric carts at the big stores! I can't begin to shop at Costco or Sam's Club because their carts are either all in use when I go, or they are out of battery. (Eventually I suspect I'll get to the point our insurance will pay for a go-cart for me, and I won't have to worry about whether one is available.)

But, because of the above constraints, I don't do much monthly shopping anymore. Just run-in-run-out while DH waits in the car. He **really** hates shopping - of any kind!! Doesn't like to shop for clothes or anything. He'll shop on-line for electronics or woodshop needs, and occasionally go to the lumber store, but that's about it.

Cheerio!
Elizabeth

We got a new Shop Rite about a mile away.
DH says if he never has to go in there, it will be too soon. He hates the parking lot, aisles, setup, everything!
I'm not fond of the place either but SOMEONE has to do the shopping....

I do the majority of the shopping. I tend to buy the same stuff all the time, so I can breeze thru the store. Dh goes occassionally, but he's not the thrifty one. So I'll send him with a list, complete with brand name, price, and whether or not we have a coupon lol! This way he knows approximately how much he'll be spending, and I know I'll get everything I need. And he can't blame me if he spends more than the budget if he's in charge!

Hehe--he used to laugh and roll his eyes at the way I shop(at Aldi's, Sav-a-lot, loss leaders, etc). He thought I was only saving a few bucks each month, so what was the point? Then, our BIL told us one day how much Dh's sis spends each week for their family of 5. I spend about half of that each MONTH for our family of four. Dh no longer laughs

DH AND I DO THE GROCERY SHOPPING TOGETHER EACH SATURDAY MORNING, EXCEPT FOR THE SATURDAY FOLLOWING MY CHEMO. THE DH DOES IT ON HIS OWN. WE HAVE ALWAYS DONE THE GROCERY SHOPPING THIS WAY. NOW FOR ANY OTHER SHOPPING I EITHER GO ALONE OR WITH MY DAUGHTER.

Wow, so many new faces on here. Welcome to all our newest members.

Dh & I shop together on Saturdays generally. We make a trek, Meijers, Gordon Food Service then Aldi's. Or sometimes we'll skip Meijers and go to one of the other grocery stores if they are having a better sale.

I prefer shopping by myself but dh really enjoys going and he is more careful now about what he puts in the cart and watching the prices and determining if we really "need' it or if it can wait another week.

Well off to write up my grocery list.

Anna

99% of the time I will do the grocery shopping on my own... I have my own system of doing things.. using coupons, etc.. and when he goes with me.. he is always in such a hurry and I like to compare prices, etc. I can say that I am lucky in that he rarely ever puts anything in the cart that is not on my list. I am sure now tho.. starting this next week he will probably go with me as he will be laid off for the summer.. sigh.. LOL.

Try making up a separate list for hubby.
Let him get those items.. and tell him before you give him a basket, that only the items on the list will be honored at the cash register. And.....if he's a good boy, you'll get him a Happy Meal....LOL
