Produce - What's in Season when?

I have tons of recipes I'd like to try, and I plan my menus a month at a time, so in order to plan ahead, I need to know what's in season each month of the year.

Anybody have a list they could share with me?

Thanks, Dawn

Pinkie Winky Great question!

I have always wished I knew this. I thought it should be on the calender like the moon symbols! I usually cook by the week, so it is easier to look at the sale papers to see what they have. Last week I made a great, cheap meal with Broccoli Rabe. .99 a lb
I mnever thought I would make anything with that, but it was rather good. It was 1 lb of pasta, 1 lb of sausage also .99 a lb, the broccoli rabe and mushrooms. It was great.

dawny, you're in Texas and I'm in Va, so what's in season for you is going to be different for what's in season for people more northern.

However, I found a couple of sites for you:

(Georgia - closer climate to yours)

(North Carolina) a search at for "fruits and vegetables in season" to see more results.

For some intriguing reading (not necessarily exciting for some) look into Foods That Heal by Dr. Bernard Jensen. It gives some wonderful information about the item of produce, a few recipes, as well as their peak season. I've been meaning to reread my copy so I can better my menu planning.

Hi All!

Hi!Just checking out this thread, jumping around on here!
That is a nice list of produce you posted,I'll have to print that out,&hang in my kitchen for references from time-to -time,I'm usually asking my mom ,when does this is season? Thanks!

If anyone on here is interested, there is athread on here, where you can meet&chat with different people from all over,&now can send Postcards back&forth to people,
It is in YOUR COMMUNITY-Local&regional forums>postcard swap from anywhere,It's pretty,I started doing it,there are some who are trying to collect postcards from all 50 states, there's even Australia & Portugal too! It's neat!If you get a chance check it out!
There's always someone there to help you, just ask how it works,
easy enough if you wish to buy P.C."s &stamps, usually everyone you send one too, will send one back to you!
Just thought I'd offer an invite to anyone who wishes!
Have a nice nite all!Going to check out website budget101,&try to get some ideas,I'm a mom of 4-11,almost 8,5y/o,and almost 3,
and hubby and always trying to save money, especially at grocery stores!Nice to be able to chat with you!I love this Family corner web site! And it gives me some one -on-one with other adults, and mothers too! 4MOMS
