Last month I stayed within the $700.00, it was like $698 but still within. This month I s setting the same amount but Im already up to about $627.00 but only need milk and fruit for the rest of the month. This is for 5 adults and 1 12 year old child. I do not count the dog and cat supplies or meds. But do include paper and cleaning supplies

Cau, wow that's a lot of people to be feeding.
When I was married to hubby#2,there were his 3 kids, my 3 and he & I. We also had dogs, cats, chickens, geese, turkeys, a goat, raccoon and a horse. I did all the cooking and we grew our own food but it was still expensive.
God bless you, that's a lot of dishes wash too. LOL

Maryann, all my kids ended up back home, due to divorce & a Kid and job loss and severe medical bills and lousy insurance. Its tight but fun and they will all go again in time. The economy has to pick up eventually.

Cau, how fortunate for them that you were there when they needed it.

And how wonderful for you to have a chance to influence a grandchild and also share this time in their growing up years.

Things are what we make them. And in this recession, theres an opportunity for people to get closer. And of course help one another more.

I came under my Budget for April by $56.82.

For May I will do a budget of $600.00. My older daughter will now be home from college. So there will be 4 adults now. I included items for the dog and cat and all paper products and health and beauty along with my food.

May I’m aiming at $700.00 but realize it may climb to $800.00 but it is for 5 adults and 1 12 year old. I think for that many adults I’m doing ok. We grill a lot more during the spring and summer so I average 1 piece of meat per person per meal.

Wow, you all are doing really good! Now that the vegetable garden is under way we will be eating more home grown foods so the grocery money should be able to be set aside for other things. Just trying to get DH to understand that "this is the food in season so that is what we will eat"! He likes vegetables, but still......
