Most of my real food coupons, meat, poultry, produce, dairy come from the store. I shop a Kroger's and they will every so often send out buy $10 save $3 on beef, etc. coupons.

I would sign up for every store discount card for every store that you shop at and check out their websites also as some have extra store coupons that can be used with manu coupons that you load to your store card or print out to use at the register.

My September budget will be $200 as the kids are back in school and get breakfast & lunch there. Will eat from the freezer so I can get it cleaned out and restock for the winter. I know we have some canned goods nearing the use it date so will plan meals with them in mind.

My budget for September is $570. It would have been $550 but I had $20 left over from last month, so I just added it in to this month's budget. It'll be great if I have something to carry over at the end of this month.

Today I spent $107.88, and saved $60.70 in coupons. A little of today's expenses (about $10) was school supplies, normally not in my budget but oh well.

Remaining to spend: $462.12

Hi everyone, its been months since I posted on the grocery thread and I want to jump in for September. I am feeding 3 people 4 when ds comes home which isn't often. I include food, drink stuff, otc medicines, small little household things etc. I don't include the items dh buys for his hobbies or eating out. I don't have a set amount this month I just want to start keeping track again and try to lower it if I can.

Walmart-88.22
Food city-58.41
Total to date-146.63
Coupons and store savings-23.33

Jean, I don't have a set budget either but I spent so much last month stocking up I better spend next to nothing this month. It's just dh and I and one dog and one cat. I do have the grandkids here one day a week and buy snacks especially for them but that's not much. I am just addicted to grocery shopping, I need to stay out of the stores. I go in for milk and come out with all these "great deals I couldn't pass up". My ddil has realized she does this too and says when my ds1 is gone working out of town for 3 weeks at a time it is cheaper for her to stop at the convenience store and pay more for milk for herself and her dd because she also picks up extra when going to the grocery store for milk. Makes sense to me.

I average $400 a month on just food. I put all my pet food, paper products, HBA, etc. in another non food category which averages $125-$150 a month. Like I said last month for some reason was "off the chart' with $650 for food and $430 for non food. We do need milk this week and I would like one more watermelon before they are gone for the summer but that should be all I buy this week, well I hope. Haven't seen the sale ad yet LOL.

Jacki, you could mention the idea of buying an extra gallon of milk when dil is at the grocery and freeze it for later use. About four days before she will need it have her put it in the freezer to thaw out, shake a couple times a day to mix it up. I've starting picking up an extra one when milk is on sale which keeps me from stopping the next week.
