Welcome Amanda:
We also include store coupons, in store coupons or sales. Every little bit counts when it comes to saving money on groceries. I budget $600 a month for a family of 4 adults. I only joined two months ago, but having a "goal" helps me save money, That, and staying out of the stores for little pick-ups, helps. Again Welcome!

Spent $103.03 at Krogers and Family Dollar this week saved $102.95 with sales and coupons. Most of the food will be eaten in August and I bought cleaning supplies for the next 6-9 months. So I really went over what I had to spend for July but there were really good deals to be had. I got 2 turkey breasts for $1.47 lb for the freezer, 4 boxes of Electrasol tablets for $.50 a box, etc..

Budget $300
Spent $363.51
Coupons $93.58
Sales $142.98
Balance ($63.51)

Thanks for the welcome! I'm curious, does your budget include everything like cleaning supplies and pet food or just food? I need to go back and figure out what mine would be, but we have 6 of us (me, hubby and 4 kids, 2 of which are teens with ferocious appetites), plus we have a dog (big) and 4 cats. Lots to feed!

I think if I had to guess how much I spend each month it would probably be around $600. But I'm afraid to add up all the little trips to the store as I may not like what I see.

I found the Electrasol tablets by walking the cleaning aisle looking for Lysol bathroom & liquid cleaners $.50 after sale & coupons. the electrasol was on clearance for $2.75 because it is the "old style" and I had 4 $2.25 coupons so bought all 4 boxes and cleared them out.

Great job, Roberta! I am looking for a deal on those Electrasol tabs myself--I have 2 coupons. I'll have to keep my eyes open in the clearance area

I spent about $90 this week. So I have $255 left in the budget. One more week to go in the month--and what's left over is going to go for the kids' school uniforms.

I had DH make me a report on what we've spent on groceries over the years. We have about 15 years of data!! July is always a "low" month, but June is always "high." It was interesting to watch the fluctuations. My big spending jump came 2 years ago (coincides with my 2 older kids' growth spurts! LOL!)

July Goal $600.00
total spent $538.82
total coupons savings $10.10

This week:
Spent at Redners $95.85
Coupons savings $1.00

Left to spend $61.18

I probably won't spend any more this month. I don't usually go to the store during the week. So this will probably be my total for July. I can't believe it I will be under.

I have to get my totals together for a final tab. I did really good this weekend. I made a pot roast for Sunday dinner today. Did not have stuff for a salad nor carrots for the roast. I DID NOT go to kroger or Wal-Mart. I fixed cherry tomatoes from a friends garden and a head of steamed cabbage instead of carrots. No one missed the salad nor carrots, I used what I had and did not spend any money on the items missing nor the IMPULSE items that drop in the cart on the way to check out.

Navy Wife, great job using what you had on hand instead of running to the store to pick up 3 things and coming home with 23! We ALL know how that goes!!

I will have to go to the store today; DH invited a bunch of company for cake & coffee tonight. So there are a few things I will need to get. (Like the CAKE!)

I do have to run to the store today. Cleaned out frig and need to make a salad to go with spaghetti for dinner tonight. No lettuce - no salad. got somemore cherry tomatoes and cucumbers, and I cleaned up and cut up the green onions and put in a plastic container when I cleaned out the fridge. I also made a spice cake, using pumpking mousse instant pudding mix, oil, eggs and a can of root beer. should be interesting, think so?
