Grocery Challenge April 2008

Welcome to our Grocery Challenge!

Any Family Corner member can participate.

Just state how many are in your family, how much you plan to spend for the month, and what your budget includes (is it just food, or does it include things like cleaning supplies/paper products/pet needs/greeting cards/eating out). Then, keep track of what you spend and compare it to your plan.

Can you come in "under budget" for the month?

I have a family of 5 (including one teenage boy). My budget includes paper products, cleaning and laundry supplies as well as food items.

I was hoping to keep it under $500 but with the prices rising as they are, I don't think that's realistic. I'm going to aim for under $550.

I have a family of four (two teenage girls!) and a Chocolate Lab named Cocoa. My budget includes food, cleaning supplies and health/beauty items. I raised my budget in March to $550.00 and came in "under", but not by much. I think I will keep it at $550.00 this month.

I am trying to stretch out the time between trips as well. It's a gamble, though, as DH doesn't understand the concept of "making do" and he'll just go out and buy what he "needs" - and pay more for it as well!

Good luck with your goals this month!

Hi! First time doing the challenge.
I have a family of 4 (2 boys but preschool age) & 1 JRT.
My house is pretty packed & i tend to "stock up" on things when they are on clearance/sale & i have good coupons.
I am going to have a budget of $350 for food this month, $100 for paper prod/cleaning/household items. I would do an eating out budget but we are traveling to WDW in the middle of the month & we will be eating out for main meals.

I hope that I can utilize things in my home & keep it under this month.

Fingers crossed for everyone!

Didn't make it for March so I will aim for 500.00. This is for a family of 4 (but one is mostly at college). I also include otc medicines, cleaning and washing supplies, canned dog food and etc. I don't include eating out, clothing or dh and ds hobbie expenses. Hope I can do better this month. Best of luck to each of you on your budget this month. Hope all of you find lots of coupons and lots of great deals.

Trying to keep it under $650 for a family of four and 1 dog. (kids are almost 17 and almost 7) This includes all paper supplies, dog food, cleaning supplies.

So.. out of this months paycheck I've spent..

Safeway the other day.. $48
Safeway today .............$245

total so far $293

And the majority of what we need is in the house. Just weekly trips for fresh stuff, bread and milk. Plus possibly a trip to Costco since we have the money to do it right now.
